I grew up on a farm in Strawberry Plains TN so we had lots of pets and farm animals. What different kinds of pets/animals have you had and how many. I'll start.
I must qualify this list by adding that my sister worked at an animal shelter so we had a lot of rescues. This is at our peak.
4-horses (TN walker, pinto, strawberry roan, mutt)
2-cows (jersey)
24-chickens (Rhode Island Reds)
12-ducks (plain ole quackers)
12-guineas (nuff said)
2-goats (generic)
1-skunk (defunked)
9-dogs (great dane,collie,great pyranese,terrier,poodle,chinese pug,st.bernard,irish setter and mutt)
10-cats (mix)

I've had
6-dogs(all mixes)
2-horses (Tn Walker, Paint)
3-cats (mixes again)
A rooster (no clue)
2 Chinese water dragons (boy and a girl)
A Green Basilisk ( could walk on water, cool beans)
A ferret (mean little guy)
Some hamsters ( quite a few lol)
Some mice ( Bonnie and Clyde lulz, poor things were eaten by a copperhead that snuck into the house)
And that's it

Cool, my sister had the TN Plantation Walker and I had the Strawberry Roane. We used to go to a lot of horse shows back in the day.

I love horses, I had to sell mine to help Dad pay bills though. One day I'll get another one. I love to watch horse shows but I've never actually ridden in one.

Growing up, we always had animals. We were raised out in the country. Poor folks, so you grew a lot of your own food. Including some animals. We got to play with some, as pets sort of, then they would be on the table. Can't remember it ever bothering me. I mean, one day you're playing and chasing a chicken around and the next day, you see Dad pick it up, wring it's neck, throw it on a chopping block and dinner is served. Anyway

Dozens and dozens of chickens for eggs and meat with dumplings.

Several mutt horses for no reason other than for me and my brother to ride when we played cowboys and indians. Mine was named Maude. No idea why.

Dozens of goats over the years for grass control, milk, cheese and food. They were no fun to play with. Except for talking our friends into going in the pen. One good head butt and they were running for their lives.

Several cows for butter and milk.

Pigs, pigs, pigs. Dad would buy them young, raise them for slaughter. Always many hams hanging in the smoke house.

Rabbits galore in the fields back then. Wasn't any problem to find their fur lined holes. Dad would shoot what was need for food. Made us gloves and mocs outta the skins.

Squirrels everywhere in the trees. Same purpose as rabbits.

Always one dog. No reason for any more. But, always had one around. When something happened to it, another would appear to take it's place.

Had a duck one year. Dad found it half frozen one winter. Warmed it up, fed it and turned it loose to do as it pleased. It found good shelter through the winter and flew off one day.

My brother would find, pick up anything and make it a pet. Spiders, snakes, frogs, lizards, etc. He's still that way. Good bro.

Can't think of anything else, right now. As much as we pleaded, no giraffes, lions or elephants.

It was fun for me and my brother. We never knew we were poor. We thought we had it made. Looking back, I guess we actually did.
