Anecdotal - Needed the GA win badly

So my son, Pride member, is sitting in class (economics, I think) last week and someone makes a comment about how badly we need to beat Georgia. The entire class starts muttering about the fact that we suck and we keep blowing leads and that there's just no way that's gonna happen.

Mind you, this takes place in front of one particular student, sitting toward the back of the class, who's actually on the football team. He basically just begins to plead with the class and says, "Come on guys, don't give up on us yet."

That player - none other than Todd Kelly, Jr.

Yeah, we needed that win.

PS. My son also told me that following the Ark game, the POTS director was so disgusted he didn't even let the band play the Waltz. First time in who knows when that's happened. He later apologized for letting his frustration get to him.
EDIT: My son clarified that he may have been incorrect (or not) about it being the Ark game, but there was absolutely a game where we didn't play the Waltz at the end. I was at OU and they played it then. Had to be Ark because he says they don't play it at away games.

After the Georgia game the POTS started playing the Tennessee Waltz and Verne Lunquist said "And the Alma-Mater is played on Rocky Top".

God, he REALLY is a moron...... I can't stand Verne Lunquist... AT ALL.. And Gary Danielson is only a little bit better than a complete moron.

Are you serious? Can anyone who was at the game confirm we didn't play the Waltz? I struggle to believe this happened and it's just being heard about 2 weeks later.

Can't stand him either. Neither one of them are acceptable. Verne is a heart attack waiting to happen.

I ain't gonna lie. When the Waltz played after the Georgia game my eyes may or may not have gotten a little misty

It's not like Verne & Gary don't have to keep up with 13 other SEC schools. To be fair, most teams play their Alma Mater after the game.

Wasn't at the game but my son just came home on fall break and told me all about it yesterday. Said the director was screaming at the drum majors and it was just a horrible situation. My son said it was easily the most depressing thing he's experienced in the Pride.

My son also indicated he thought the director had caught major flak from higher up the chain for the decision.

Verne is bad, and I mean really bad. But you can't expect him to know that a slow song played by the band after the game isn't the alma mater because that is what almost every school does.

I find it hard to believe that he made them not play the Waltz. We played it after some ****ty losses in 08 & 09 regardless.

Verne did praise the tackling of Malen Beeves-Haven though.

Also Jabin Myron-Flavin and Javin Ravin-Tazin.

Frankly, I had know idea how deep we were at that position before Verne. I don't understand why they are all allowed to wear the same number though.

Back when Vern was young, someone stole his girlfriend when he was dancing to the Tennessee waltz.
Gary had to explain to him how much he had lost.

It has been so long since won on CBS he had forgotten. The last few games on CBS the stadium was probably close to empty and no one noticed
