Andy Staples from SI on CBJ Hot Seat or not!

Anybody care to paraphrase? I can't actually watch right now.

He reminds everyone just what a dumpster fire the program was when Butch took over. Says he has done a good job of building us back up to where we should contend for the east. Says we need to win early and at least be in the hunt for the east late into the season, otherwise the new administration and fans will be talking about making a change.

I think it's as accurate an analysis as I've heard.

Fan's Hot Seat: Yes
AD Hot Seat: Unlikely barring disaster.

I've seen enough of Butch to draw my own conclusion about where we're headed, and I'm not likey to forgive the SC and Vandy losses anytime soon. Butch still has a lot to prove.

He has already done it. Proved he is incompetent, it is just treading water at this point.

It doesn't matter, CBJ would have to post a 5-7 season to get fired.

Nah. He could lose fewer games and be let go, or encouraged to make a lateral move.

IMO it depends on who the losses are to and how it happens. Say there's another year like 2015 where we play pretty much everybody close but come up short in 4 games, no doubt he's safe. But if we get blown out by 2-3 of Bama, UF, UGA, or LSU and drop another game to Vandy, he's probably toast.

Just depends on how things come together really. It won't be just about the win/loss column.

No He has at least two more years or more.

If the Vols go 6-6 he would return for another season. But, additional losses to SC or Vanderbilt would make his return to UT in doubt.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I think an 8-4 season (even if the losses are to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and LSU) doesn't necessarily guarantee him another year.

Especially if any of the losses are blowouts or if he loses to a team other than the 4 mentioned above.
