I'll take 8-4 this season.

I guess you live in the moment...as you should(speaking last 100 or so years), especially in YOUR situation. Florida- geez, it's like they won the lottery when TN sh!t on Spurrier. He built his life around beating us, now it's all falling down... UF will never be "down", just less good. The rest of the SEC East is passing the Gators as we speak. New coaches from now on will not be so personally connected to beating any team as CSP was to beating UT. #HEWASFILLEDWITHHATE

Floridas defense will be the real deal. Offense not so much. Out of all the teams we play Tennessee scares me the most. I think the key to Tennessee's success is the overall transition for the defense. I know when we switched over to the 3-4 our players couldn't play fast because they had to concentrate on the schemes so much. We also had some key blown coverages in critical games.

Actually Spurrier saved his strongest venom for UGA, who personally cost him at least one SEC title as a player. Urban Meyer wasn't personally connected to UF at all, and he did okay against our rivals.

I don't think UF or UT has the right coach in place to take us back to where we both were in the 90s. If Muschamp flames out (good chance), I'm confident we'll get the right guy...again...

So you only started following college football in 1992?

Imagine how you dealt with it last year, and do more of that.

But you've actually had to deal with losing seasons, embarassing losses to Wyoming/Vandy/UK, and missing bowl games...I may need you to help me get through that.

Does anyone know when practice starts up again? I am very anxious to hear some reporting on CP and how he fits into the WR squad.

Lawrence Wright is by far the most realistic rival fan on here. He calls it like it is, and did last year before Florida struggled. His thoughts are always far more insightful than 99 or any of the other trolls. It is clear though that when provoked all gators (even all 6 rational ones) still have a flare for being a jack***.

Florida fans have been unbearable as of late. In the SEC every team has their time frame where they just aren't any good. Florida is due, but why should we expect for their fans to realize that they are on the way down? They still think jorts are an acceptable option for shorts.

I really liked one half of that post. :)

You must hang out with a different group of UF fans than I do, because no rational UF fan can expect anything less than 4 losses in 2012.

Until I see some signs of life from our pathetic offense, I'm expecting another 5-6 loss season. I said as much last year, and losing Demps/Rainey will be brutal considering we have NO home run threats on offense for the first time in a long time.

So like many have said here, if UT doesn't get it done this year, I'm not sure when they will. UF hasn't been this ripe for the picking in a LONG time.

I agree that if we don't get past that hurdle this year than it won't be looking good going forward. If Dooley can't pull it off this year against Florida then it is probably going to be a rough year that leads him to the unemployment line.

If we have to bring in another coach I would say we would be another 2-3 years away from being relevant unless we landed some special player.

If we can pull the win out then that is probably a good indicator that Muschamp will have a rough year, and could lead to transition at Florida which could give us 2-3 years of being the better team.

All in all I would say this is one of the bigger UT-UF games in some time.

It's big, but for reasons we'd rather not have to deal with.

Again, I don't think Dooley or Muschamp are the answer long-term for either program. So UT beating UF, but hanging on to Dooley for another 5-6 years may not be for the best.

Muschamp is in a tougher position in my opinion because he doesn't have the talent to run the offensive system he prefers, and UF's boosters aren't the most patient bunch. HOW UF loses games will be more important to Muchamp's survival than IF...this year at least.

UF will not beat FSU/LSU/UGA/USC or UT if the offense doesn't imporve significantly from what was reported from spring practice.

Phil Steele is quite high on the Gator defense. He thinks their DL and LB's will be among the best in the country, and their secondary one of the most improved. He also gives them props as a surprise team that could win the SEC east if their offense is more than decent.

you cant laugh at tx off. our off. was pretty laughable to. couldnt run the ball, center couldnt get the ball to the QB without a bounce pass.Had 1 QB that could pass but couldnt read a def. to check down to the right run play and then we had Simms that couldnt pass but could get us into the right run play.It was pathetic.

Ours was pretty bad, I'll admit, but a good buddy of mine is a diehard Longhorn fan, so I saw several of their games in which David Ash/Case McCoy were even more sad to watch than Matt Simms. Plus, losing Whittaker in the Missouri game hurt them pretty bad. Their offense was pretty dang bad. It's their stout defense that kept them in games.

With that said, I see them improving tremendously. Texas should never have a season in which they win less than 9 games because their talent is ridiculous.

It's going to be pretty soon. I think one of two things will happen:

1. Tennessee beats Florida next year.
2. Tennessee gets a head start on the coaching search and beats Florida by 2014.

Back to how Andre Ware got put on notice by espn for saying positive things towards UT??? :p I think this was huge IMO. All coaches, players, recruits, we fans hear r negative things about our program. Having someone like Ware genuinely get excited about our potential this yr is...HUGE!! He's demeanor really changed when he got to us.

I think he'd put us #1 if he could have more confidence in the def, as he made notice of it. We have it as fans, but it's still just blind optimism at this pt.

56 days y'all!!!!!!!.....GBO!!!!!

Dem some big "ifs". 10 wins is a little too optimistic for me. We have a solid first 22 we put on the field, but our depth still has a ways to go to get to 10 wins. I've been saying 8-4 and I'll stick with that. BTW - its a huge step forward.

Agree that 10 is way too optimistic. Programs have to learn how to win. For UT its been since 2006-2007 since a team had any idea how to win.

Mack Brown's seat should be 10 times hotter than Dooley's. There is no excuse for the sorry performance of the Longhorns.

It has been poor play at QB. I don't understand why they run the spread. They have more talent than their opponents each week but don't take advantage of it. To be fair his team gave Bama all they wanted just two years ago in the national championship game.

Fade I don't see how 8 wins with our schedule this year is a huge step anywhere. All thsat means is we beat the bad to average teams and lose yet again to bammer, UGA, UF and USC.

It's nice to again finally hear someone of the sports talking heads say something good about our Tennessee football team.

Thewy'll be forced to say more good things about us as the season rolls along and we rack up the Wins.

VFL...GBO!!!

I think Dooley has done exactly what was needed for our program, he looked at the long term not the short term and he focused on building a strong foundation, he recruited solid classes with good kids that seem to be here for the right reasons and it should start to pay off starting this year.

he started much further back then Muschamp did Fla has got talent that Tennessee hasn't had for 3-4 years. Your defense is top notch and if your offense can score 24 points a game you will have a winning season.

But Muschamp is in way over his head, its one thing to be fired up and excited and quite another to melt completely down and embarrass your team and your program on national TV. He would be ok as a assistant coach but he will never make it as a head coach unless he gets some good psychiatric treatment. he is a nut job. Plus he needs to stop coaching your team to cheat like having 7-8 holding calls and then admitting on tv that he wanted them to hold. If a coach has to cheat to win he sucks.
Muschamp will never make it at Florida , they are too good of a program to put up with him for long.
