Andre Sterling arrested for DUI

He was good - but not much better than you're average local standout imo. Anytime they played Ooltewah Brian Marshall was always the better back out of the field. Brian only got scholarships to some smaller colleges (and maybe Navy) but his size really hurt him in recruitment.

I could have seen something like MTSU or some mid major program - but not an SEC program. He won't see the field at Ole Miss.

I was at the game when they played Ooltewah his senior year. Both backs in that game were good. Both teams scored in the 40s. I think it was 44-41. I agree with that his size hurt him. He was, IMO, well above average for our area. Local standout is probably a good description. I don't know that he was D1 talent, but he was VERY good.

I am not really sure how to determine D1 and not D1. I have seen players going to this school or that school and when you see them they are not that good. At the same time I have seen players that appeared awesome and you never hear of them signing anywhere.

Bruno - I think your description is pretty accurate.

Sterling wasn't as good as Dustin Lindsey at Alcoa a few years back, and Lindsey was only a 3 star guy nationally.

Not saying Lindsey was awesome, just using him as a recent frame of reference.

I agree. Lindsey had to go JUCO and now is at West Georgia. He originally signed at UT

Lindsey was good enough for D1 out of HS, but still couldn't get his academics together at his JC and dropped off a bit on the field there. He played out of position at RB and he could have been a decent LB here if he would have stayed straight.

Honestly, Sterling was one of the more impressive guys in this area in recent memory. I don't even remember Randall Cobb or Aaron Douglas doing as well in HS as Sterling did. D Rogan and Sterling were the two most impressive guys in the Knoxville area at that time.

His numbers may have been 'impressive' but his physical tools weren't like the two you just mentioned.

Besides - look at Farragut's offense line over the past 5 years. They really did look like the actual Dallas Cowboy's line out there for a few years.

Well all you need to know is they're a crappy team playing in a crappy league in a high school's stadium

I'll agree with you. I see plenty of FHS games since I played there (97-2000) and he was very good but didn't think he was SEC caliber.

But I also played against Lee Humphrey and didn't think he was SEC caliber either.

I played against some of Farragut's O-linemen when I was in pee-wee back in '01. Those guys were big then, and they were big in HS as well.

Sadly I was serious. I'll be 27 in June. I'll go play flag football sometimes and I'm sore for a couple of days after. I lift weights a lot but running around like that kills my knees.

It's not like I am slow but once you stop doing that kind of stuff daily it starts fading.
