And Tony V is officially gone.

Happy for Tony and all Vol fans who followed the BaseVols. Wow, what an amazing run and it was for sure fun being a UT fan to embrace Tony and his winning style. We are blessed to have had him in Knoxville this long and can only wish him the best in the big leagues. Danny White will no doubt find the best person to take over the tsunami of excitement that Tony started years back.

Go Vols!!

Has that rumor been proven true?
Not proven, but the combination of what I’ve read with the prior observation of how the athletic department overly funds the girls team, as well as the curious drawn out nature of his departure has led me to believe this. Look at what they put into the girls program. It’s an absolute joke.

Screw Danny White. That bastard just killed our Baseball program for women’s basketball. Unbelievable
I think everybody needs to chill a little. Nobody here knows what went on behind the scenes and what were the major factors in TV leaving. Someone with decent connections said it was nothing negative with UT, but simply his life long desire to coach in the big leagues. Also, let's see how well the team does moving forward before we assume the baseball program is automatically going down the tubes now.

Wonder if Baseball Randy ever realized his conflict of interest as a minor league team owner with attendance figures (not actual tickets sold) and the existing competition for sponsors, advertisers and earned media when managing the universities baseball personnel and wildly successful baseball operations. Personally, I've made one trip to see the Smokies play and I'm not going back.

Even if that rumor is true and that’s why Tony V left, that’s on Tony V lol. DW built the dude a new stadium 🤣
Tony Vitello and Josh Heupel built the stadium. Danny White hired Heup so I’ll give him credit for that, but once you’ve got the coaches in place the finances aren’t exceedingly difficult to manage

Okay when Texas A&M came calling with a huge contract, who was it that made Tony V the highest paid coach in the country? ITS AN MLB FRANCHISE. It’s not like he’s going to Arkansas or some ****. Lmfao

I didn’t say baseball is going down the tube. And even if it does I’m still watching. My issue with Danny is that I’ve long resented how he’s diverted funds away from football to subsidize the women and now he’s done it to baseball. (Been doing it) It’s inexcusable that he didn’t keep Jacobe Thomas this past season. I’d much rather pay him than the useless girls team

Well there’s a layup on a home run already here. Should be a quick decision
Danny has made nothing but great decisions in our AD. Whatever he does, you know it’ll be ecviting

Tony elevated the program. Always seemed hungry for a bit more light. Hope he finds it and thanks for the lift along the way!

As if that was a hard thing for us to do. Any competent AD would have done that. The fact that his buyout is only 3 million is also a joke

Unfortunately, it appears the magic of 'Heup" is fading fast.

i talked to a buddy who lives in arkansas, and the people around there believe that if tony goes to the giants, he will be arkansas's coach in three years or less
