And the starting QB is...

I am usually afraid to ask questions on here because some of y'all are seriously in the know about football and I am not. I am just a fan who loves my team. But I seriously wonder why the backup QBs, if they feel they are better and really want to play, don't just transfer? Maybe they know something we don't? And the parents of the backup QBs- do THEY get mad because their sons never see the field? I already said I know nothing about football so please don't bash me.

With the new transfer rules going into place, and the fact that 2020 doesn't count against eligibility, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a transfer or two. If there was ever a year to make a move, it's this one.

How soon can a transfer actually see playing time? Do they still have to sit out a while? I'm sorry if these are dumb questions. :p

This whole thread is confusing. Who the heck did everyone expect to start? The depth chart isn’t going to change barring a season ending injury.

Means CJP is no different from the other coaches we hired since Fulmer.
No, he would actually be worse. I think Pruitt has 10x the amount of coaching talent than Jones did. But at least Jones tried something new when it was obvious that Worley/ Dormady didn’t have it. If Peterman can start in Gainesville then Shrout can play against KY in Neyland.

They’d have to sit a year under current rules unless they adopt a one time transfer rule like they’ve been talking about.

What I think you’ll see a lot of are Graduate transfers since you’ll have a ton of guys get their degrees but still have a year of eligibility left since this year doesn’t count. They’ll be eligible to play immediately.

"Jarrett is our quarterback. He gives us the best opportunity to have success. When you have 1st and 20 it's tough to make first downs. We didn't protect and we didn't play fast enough on the perimeter. Offensively our struggles were not because of one independent person."- Jeremy Pruitt 10/12/2020

How about "no".
You used quotes but that was my live summary. FYI.

Message is the same, though.
“Well Jarrett (Guarantano) is our quarterback. He gives us the best opportunity to have success. When you have 1st and 20, it’s tough to make first downs. When you have 2nd and 15, it’s tough to make first downs. We didn’t do a very good job protecting. We didn’t play very fast on the perimeter. It’s the way the game goes. I played quarterback. When you don’t have a lot of success, the quarterback takes too much blame. When you have a lot of success, the quarterback probably gets too much credit. Offensively, our struggle Saturday was not because of one independent person. It was a team effort. We understand that. It starts with us as coaches to put our guys in a better position to have success.”

Nope. Even if we had a spring practice, and HB looked the part, JG would still be starting
I think JG must have a picture of Fulmer in a chicken suit or something...it truly baffling. Heck, at this rate, JG is going to be sponsored by AARP by the time he’s through playing for us. Smh.

I'm not sure what to believe anymore. If JG is indeed the best option at this point you MUST fire your qb coach immediately because development is obviously an issue. Either the staff isn't getting it done or Pruitt is preventing them from getting it done....... Something has to give.
If this is true then it is really concerning, and if I believed that like some on here have said then my outlook for the program is very low.
Fortunately I don’t and believe that when given a chance one of the others will convince CJP and company they were wrong.

I mean why is an RS SR QB with 4 years of playing time and 25 plus starts throwing OFF HIS BACK FOOT ACROSS THE MIDDLE????

He had 1, just one throw out of bounds to stop the loss of yardage from taking a sack. That's an improvement to his credit, most of the time, he has none.

Good gosh!! As frustrated as I get - being just a fan, if I were JT or Brian’s parents, and had to watch the JG train barreling down the mountain each week, I think I would literally lose it.- hahaha... maybe permanently. There is not enough yoga and meditation in the universe!! hahahaha...

My hat is off to them.

I’m not sure we can afford that. You give the starting job to BM today and next year you lose KS and HB.
I think you always play for the season you're in. It's not like we get the #1 draft pick for losing. I'm not saying JP isn't playing to win but surely he's isn't keeping a better player off the field to keep someone from transferring next year. That's a good way to lose your job

Even if they do not change the immediate eligibility rule . I think Shrout graduates this year and will have 2 years left with immediate playing time. He will get recruited heavily unless he has a GF or something that keeps him here.

I can see them getting upset it they were told that they would have a fair chance to compete and play....because neither has gotten a fair chance
