Normally I loathe Kesling, but I am having a hard time finding faults anywhere with the Vols tonight(thanks to GlenLivet and some of our favorite Vols). These highlights are incredible. SIAP.

Just out of curiosity, what do you dislike about Kesling? I don't listen to him much but I like him for the most part.

I know you're asking OP but I'll chime in. Often it seems he yells with excitement more when opponents score than the Vols. He often mispronounces our players names. He also if you haven't been listening the whole broadcast and time in late, he sometimes will take an eternity to tell the score. And.............. another thing which isn't his fault. He followed one of the greatest play by play men John Ward. He is not John Ward so therefore we have the bar expectations really high.

I have gotten used to Bob. I think he is wonderful at calling a basketball game. Loved hearing the excitement rise in his voice as the game went on.

He doesn't describe what's happening on the field very well. It's difficult to tell where the ball is with Kesling calling play-by-play. Last year, during the Oklahoma game, he said, "Dobbs throws, it's tipped into the air and picked-off inside the 5 yard line by Ethan Wolf." And I was like, wait...what? Did we throw an interception or did we complete a pass to the one? Weird phrases like that confuse the listener all the time with Bob. He also often says things like, "Hurd, straight up the middle, and he gains a couple of yards." Ok, how much is a couple? 2 yards? 4 yards? And then he'll say "2nd and 9." Ok...so he didn't gain a couple...he gained 1. Why didn't you say that? It can be frustrating to listen to.

I was working the Alabama game yesterday luckily I found a Westwood feed of the game in Birmingham (I was shocked) They changed the feed right as we started 4th quarter so I switched to 104.5 stream. It was a world of difference. I have to say Tim Priest creeped me out. Barnnet set out with cramps on Florida's last scoring drive with cramps. Bob mentioned how he was getting them massaged out and Tim out of no where "I'll go down there and massage him!!" Few minutes later Bob says "his hand must be cramping, he is holding his hand." Tim pops back in with " I'll massage that too...." Just was awkward moment. TLDR, nice story bro.

I gotta say, I am pretty excited about Tyler Byrd. This guy has blazing speed. We need to be hitting him with some more quick slants and hitches. Dude is a play aker.

Now THAT is indeed a highlight reel !!

One play that really summarizes to me the revised Offensive pass + Line protection: the 67 yarder to Jennings, where Dobbs is clearly seen checking off his receivers on the left and middle, then pass to the right -- that's what the protection allowed him to do what we've been waiting for him to do (what he's been able to do all along, behind blocking).

In order to have appreciation for UT's Bob Kesling, listen to the announcers for other SEC schools. Kesling is easily in the SEC's upper echelon of broadcast announcing...
