First, let me say this group, the Black Coaches Ass., are the biggest bunch of clowns ever assembled in my mind.

They don't look to hire more Black Coaches. They look to bully schools around and to complain about anything just to get their name in the news.

Indy Star

"I'm shocked and I'm disappointed," Keith said. "For a decision to come like this against Tyrone when (three) years remain on his contract is a cause for concern. I have to look at the tradition of what's occurred at Notre Dame. That hasn't been an institution that has demonstrated a lack of patience. I'd rather use the term loyalty."

Joe Kuharich, who coached Notre Dame from 1959-62, is the last Irish coach who didn't have at least a five-year tenure.

"I'm concerned about the message that that sends," Keith said. "To African-Americans, with the paltry numbers that already exist out there, this should exemplify the struggle we're facing. Can you make this kind of decision if it's not Tyrone? Would that same decision be made with the circumstances what they are? This is unlike anything I've seen at Notre Dame. I don't understand that. . . . He did not inherit (a winning program). Notre Dame was not a Top 25 program when he took it over."

Richard Lapchick, director of the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at the University of Central Florida, also was critical of the situation.

"This is as bad a sign as I've seen in college football for African-Americans aspiring to be head coaches," Lapchick said.

Personally, I think ND crapped in the punch bowl with TW's firing, not because of his color, but because he deserves another year or two.

OTOH to the BCA...welcome to the real world. If you coach any sport, you are always suspect to being fired, regardless of your ethnicity.

You are clearly out of the loop. Didn't you know, when it comes to people being fired, it's ethnicity first, reason second.

Nevermind the fact that they were a poor program (that beat UT) with no sign of improvement. Nevermind that the program declined from his impressive 10 win first season. And forget the fact that the academic standards rival that of Vandy, and therefore have trouble getting top talent. No it is all about the smell of his cologne. I think Coach W. will land at a program where he can wear my personal favorite, Charlie, and all of this will be moot.

I think ND saw their best chance at a better coach headed to Gainesville... they decided they had to make a move. In the end, it may bite them in the butt. We'll see.

I never saw ND going upwards like others did and I am not trying to sound bitter.

ND had decent classes but nothing great and was quite average on their offense in its 3rd year.

As they were saying when I was watching Around The Horn today, they manage to get decent players for how high their standards are, but they don't have the ability to get that explosive playmaker anymore. That really is what they are missing from their team. They need an amazing QB or RB.

IMO this is not a black or white issue. I'm starting to get sick of all the black or white talk. Did David Cutcliffe get fired because he was white? Just last year he had a 10 win season and won a share of the SEC's Western Division championship. Where's the uproar about that? Ty got fired because of what he did on the sideline and the opportunity to get "The Coach" right now.

It's definitely not a white or black issue... the BCA is trying to tread a thin line between "equal opportunity" and straight out "affirmative action". A guys skin color has nothing to do with how he qualifies as a head football coach.
