Apparently Kiffin has called Tajh Boyd's coach again after seeing the High School All Star game.

I'm impressed with how he has handled himself on campus with the players and installing a "do not cross" line in terms of discipline, but I still think he's blown it with Boyd.

Of course, Boyd could be lying, but if Kiffin really did decide to change his mind, then he blew it by not watching this kid closely, and rushed to a judgement.

In fact, new Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin told Boyd that he wasn’t right for their offense. Has coach Kiffin changed his tune since the impressive All-America game performance?

“I think coach Kiffin may have called my coach or something,” Boyd said. “I haven’t talked to him. I think I may have opened a lot of eyes during the Army All-America game, but I’m not looking at Tennessee.

“I don’t want to bad mouth any program, but I think coach Kiffin should have waited to see me play before saying I didn’t fit his system,” he said. “But I wish them the best.

judging by the quarterback situation UT has right now, Kiffin may end up being an idiot for telling this guy he wouldn't fit in the system. Kiffin wants a dropback QB and Boyd isn't that far from being that type of QB. He is somewhat mobile, but not like a tyrod taylor or anything. Unless Kiffin pulls a 5star QB out of his a@# any time soon, he may regret the decision to let Boyd go. But, Jon Crompton was a four star quarterback too, so maybe Im completely wrong. You guys have seen how the Crompton experiment worked out.

there's no way coack k called this guy or his coach. The only reason he would is to recruit him to wash. for coach sark. up there. he would never admit he was wrong. but i dont think he was.

If Kiffin is half the coach/recruiter his reputation says he is. He researched this kid. Research was done before the AA game. His decision was made based on this research....

He didn't call.

He was honest with the kid...didn't blow smoke up his butt just to get him here. He obviously saw something that he didn't like, or he knows he won't fit in his system.

We will be fine, in that one of the 3 stooges will emerge with some better coaches. If not, then the class of '10 will be where Lane makes his move.

Crompton was not an experiment, many top notch programs recruited him, including USC.
He has not lived up to the hype yet, at all. But he has a fresh start, and a chance to earn his way back. Not sure that he does tho'.

Why take Boyd now to warm the seat for a year when you plan to go out and get somebody who perfectly fits your system next year? There's no reason to bring the guy in now if you suspect that he'll end up transferring or turning into a receiver. It's a waste of a scholarship and it's not fair to Boyd, whether he knows it or not.

I want Kiffin making today's decisions with an eye on 2010. Not looking for the quick band-aid.

Boyd's not a pro style qb. I don't care how good he looked in that AA game. Crompton looked great in his AA game, look how that turned out.

I don't think CLK called either...and the article does not say he did. Boyd says he MAY have called

I may be wrong but wasnt he offered a scholly at USC or just recruited by Kif? Maybe for potential. Crompton needs some serious coaching I just dont know if he has what it takes between the ears or if it was the coaching.
