now that i think about it, someone outside the SEC and doesnt really know as much, it really doesnt make sense some of the stuff, like war eagle etc. Some of it is still stupid, like Yellow Hammer, that really is just dumb. I prefer we dont give a damn about the whole state of alabama,,,

I think it's the best nickname in all of sports. I just can't believe so many people are ignorant of it. I get a sense of pride explaining it to people who truly want to know what it means. The people who try to ridicule our nickname just make themselves looks stupid and give me something to laugh about.

You might want to do a little research so that you don't continue to misinform the ignorant. The nickname dates back further than the Alamo (although there were a lot of Tennesseans there). Hint: 1812.

Same here - was reading thru the thread & was going to post that I wasn't offended, but didn't also didn't even smile, much less chuckle! Does sound a little sour-grapish, but mostly he's prob. trying to write for his audience - you know, Bucs fans that dress up like it's Halloween & go watch a game at a stadium dressed up like a (cheesy) pirate ship... and he thinks the SEC is weird!

Good read, Funny in a wacky kind of way...It´s funny how some of the people mad are saying that Monte will have a tough go of it at UT yet he has survived the NFL for years...I am actually excited to see some of the schemes he comes up with for different teams...It´s going to get fun for sure :yahoo:
