He said some crap like "well we had a chart of situations in which to do this or that or whatever" ... screw that! It doesn't take a freakin genius to know that going for 2 is the obvious call. Spurrier did the same thing against Missouri last year and it cost him too.

Every coach should know this stuff. It's mind-boggling that there are so many who don't.

Or maybe...just maybe...Butch is using analytics as an excuse for bad decision making.

Analytics say that anytime you are inside the one, you go for it. Anytime you have a chance to make it a 14 point game in the 4th quarter, you make it a 14 point game. Butch isn't using analytics. He is just using those as an excuse to cover up conservative play calling.

Analytics are becoming like the Germans and bamboo. Another joke to add to Tennessee lore.

Painful - yes, but this is not a single call or series of bad coaching issues. They executed and we did not. How many 4 and long did they complete. The def got them into the best place, but they just out-executed our plays (be it a better call or just wanting it more).

This was nothing like OU. Now we are 8-4, assuming we win the games, rather than give them away.
