Even in the best of times there will be negaVols. I can remember hearing them in the 90s on sportstalk radio when we didn’t win by enough touchdowns. Mostly they hated Fulmer and were Majors fans no matter what. They were a small minority then.
When we hired Dooley I remember a guy on another forum who lost his mind. He was going off about how the University isn’t serious about winning anymore. I thought “yeah right” we just hired a guy who coached under Saban and has the SEC bloodlines to make this work. His dad won a National Championship! He knows what it takes. He’s even funny with the media. “Sack of potatoes” was my favorite.
Since the glory days many have turned to the dark side. I can remember the day I turned heel. It was December 7th 2012. Butch Jones scrolls across the ticker as the new HC at Tennessee. I walk to my closet, gather my TN gear, and toss it at the feet of my Georgia Bulldog wife and tell her to “burn it”. It was true, we really didn’t care about winning anymore.
I had finally accepted it and let the hate flow through me. There is release with acceptance.

This should be required reading for all new negavol initiates. Once you have the above memorized we give you a beanie and a kazoo.Even in the best of times there will be negaVols. This could also be added to the reading list for negavol pledges. What some call nega-vols are only die hard fans who are tired of the hiring of inferior coaches for the great program that is UT Football. If you believe that any criticism is negative then I don't know how to express to you how criticism is a positive force. Some think that "nega-vols" are looking for instant gratification. How would one describe instant gratification for a long suffering fan base these past 10 years? We all want the same thing so quit with the freakin' name tags just because you don't agree with every opinion expressed.
Yes, truly it would have been disastrous if someone not willing to aim for mediocrity with a K-mart hiring attitude, had been in charge of any of the football hirings for the last ten years. We really would have been sunk if some idiot had gone out and hired Chris Petersen or Tom Herman or Dan Mullen or Jimbo Fisher. Glad we dodged that bullet!OP, I almost posted the same sentiment earlier and got about half way through and then decided to delete the post, figuring what's the use.. Being negative is a way of life for a lot of these posters.
I'm just happy they are not decision makers for UT or we would really be in irreversible trouble..
Considering that 3/4 turned us down and our passionate fanbase I would say the gun was not even loaded.....Yes, truly it would have been disastrous if someone not willing to aim for mediocrity with a K-mart hiring attitude, had been in charge of any of the football hirings for the last ten years. True that. See K-Mart hiring philosophy, coupled with inane contract demands (see our current search and reports of us refusing to allow candidates to bring any staff; see also our unparalleled HC search bungle when we whiffed on Cutcliffe for the same reason).Considering that 3/4 turned us down and our passionate fanbase I would say the gun was not even loaded.....

At least you have a plan in place. I do think the common theme of some sort of hood to hide the face in the midst of the humiliation of a game is a good one.I’d prefer something like the Nazgul wear because it’s customizable. I want to add my own flair. Traditionalists will request brown paper bags for the games. I’m fine with that, too.

Ancient alien astronaut theorists agree with this sentiment.True that. Wow !!!! That’s some heavy shat your putting out. Did Henry pass you his bong ??Yes, Butch was like a ring of power all to himself. At first it seemed like it granted greater power and you felt a sense of hope that all wrongs could be made right, if given time. Sadly, that ring was false and the longer you wore it, the more corrupted your soul became, until hopeless, you wandered through Saturdays in the Fall, a shrieking broken shell of your former self.
Now that we rose up and threw the ring into the fire, perhaps we shall have respite for a time of peace and prosperity in the days of Pruitt. But the wise foresee that although that the Dark Lord (Haslam) lost his fel lieutenants and no longer sits on his Dark Throne, he may yet again trouble the long-suffering People of Orange and meddle in their Councils.

So you admit that you haven't been a Tennessee fan for more than 6 years. (There is no question mark at the end of my statement.)
I hear there's a Georgia fan board or two.
