An open letter to the Negavols and those with BVS for 2019

Not sure why people find it necessary to attack and be so rude to a person posting their opinion. Lol, isn't this a "fan forum?" Doesn't the site, more often than not, contain more opinions than fact?

Because the OP is not expressing an opinion, he’s is trying to shut people up who disagree with him with a narssacistic lecture thread. The purpose of a good message board is the back and forth debate. His thread aims at doing the opposite.

I will say this as nicely as I can after reading one too many posts of your collective "wisdom". You people are sad representations of fans and your constant negativity without any actual information is intellectually and spiritually draining.

Look, I get it, the admin has surely screwed the pooch the last decade so it is hard to hope for better things. But things ARE different. Whatever you would say about our previous coaches/ADs, Pruitt and Fulmer are quite different from what we have had and no one can seriously say that CPF doesnt love UT or that they dont care about football. We dont know yet if Pruitt will be successful here. In his young career, he has surely been successful elsewhere. But TN has had a way of making even great coaches and all star NFL players suck while they are here. Time will bear it out, an improvement this year as more of the roster is turned over and he brings in new recruits (just remember, star gazers, that there are fewer 4* linemen). Next year the machine will begin to hum if he is the right guy.

In the meantime, why not at least let the man actually get an OC before you start bi*ching? If we dont like him, then fine, bi*ch away. Though it is hard to see who you all would be happy with. You weren't happy with Helton because he didnt have deep experience as OC. I see many complaints about the idea of someone like Sarkisian, a head coach at Washington, at USC and now an OC in the NFL for no other reason than isnt your "pick of the week". We could hire the "National Coordinator of the Year" and you had been clamoring for for weeks and then you would find innumerable ways to complain about how the admin/Pruitt/Fulmer screwed up this hire. But until that happens, perhaps just STFU and enjoy the new year. Unlike previous searches, this one has had almost no leaks, no information coming out at all. Is that better? well it does tell me that someone is more organized and is not a Benny Hill show running around. So lets at least wait and see before you start spewing negative bile over the pristine new year.

To you Battered Vols who are not naturally NegaVols but have been corrupted, twisted into such by the utter incompetence of Administrations past, take hope. While no one can promise an NC or even an SEC Championship while Bama is in full form, I can say that I believe the coaching management we have now will get us at least to being respectable again. By the end of year 2020, I would wager almost everything that I have that you will all feel very differently about our team. Pruitt is not a flashy person but his past demonstrates he understands how to build foundations and teach core skills. I dont know if we will ever be in contention for an NC under Pruitt but I sense that he will build a program that you will no longer have to be ashamed of and you will look forward to Saturdays in the fall again.

Be Happy, its a New Year!

If waiting to see results before supporting Pruitt makes me a negavol, then I'll proudly accept that title.
I think we're on the same page, but I would re-phrase it a little. I do support Pruitt, but I am not pleased with his progress (or lack thereof) at this point in time. I've used up all my blind support on the previous 3 coaches (that went out the window at Butch's last game against UGA). I'm in "show me" mode.

There is no such thing as Negavols, lol. This board is full of opinions; like them, hate them or ignore them, but through it all we are Vol fans.

If our fans didnt bitch and complain, Schiano would be head coach, Currie would be AD, and the Haslams wouldnt be licking their wounds....
And the pumpers would be telling you that 💩 sammich is/will be fine bc it has peanuts in it 😂 smiling with it in their teeth and all 😂

He expressed his happiness by telling people on a message board to STFU unless you agree with him.
Also, he complained that people are complaining and not enjoying the new year
Sounds like quality stuff there. Glad I deferred. Thanks for the thumbnail.

So, is this a bad time for a hindsight thread on whether we'd rather have Pruitt than Mullen?

Going down the road of coach worship again

No. I do not worship this coach and he has not given us any reason yet to do so. But unlike the legion of the miserable, I am simply open for facts and am hopeful that Pruitt/Fulmer can turn the ship around, as should we all be. The facts to support that hope are mixed right now, as can be expected in the first year of the effort. This program has fallen to levels that are historically bad, EPIC failure at a level I dont think that I personally, at least, understood. Sadly, the stats make that all too clear that the last two teams were among the worst in UT history. These are certainly facts that should not be avoided. That said...

Pruitt cannot fix that overnight nor could anyone - the losing culture, the soft mindset, the under preparedness and the unwillingness to change. He can do better than he did this year, however, with some mistakes that are probably partly due to being a new HC, his late start in recruiting in the disaster we had in hiring him. Pruitt's own words, however, are essentially that he needs to get rid of everyone who doesnt "want to do things the right way" aka HIS way.

What irks me is that while dwelling on the facts of our fallen program, the negavols fail to acknowledge that we have new leadership and that leadership has had a strong record of success in the past. Moreover, there are a lot of things, that demonstrate for those who have eyes who wish to see, that the program has shifted its momentum and is moving in the right direction - and not just because we are catching lucky breaks like Butch did with legacies and having a QB that could dodge bullets.

In the end, a Pollyanna approach does no good, as it hides deficiencies that should be addressed. A relentlessly negative outlook, however - not about the past but about the FUTURE - that is not based on facts that are happening but simply on conjecture, twists the soul and corrupts the very being of a fan. I have seen that result before and it did not end well...

So, is this a bad time for a hindsight thread on whether we'd rather have Pruitt than Mullen?

Yes - because we HAVE Pruitt and that is who is going to have to turn us around, not Mullen - he is now officially the enemy. Mullen would have been a great hire as well but had he been hired instead of Pruitt, they would still probably had the same record of 5-7 this year. He did a fantastic job with the gators and has more experience as a HC but Florida's recent malaise is comparable to TN like tinnitus vs metastatic lymphoma.

Many who post deserve death, many who have died deserve to post, can you give it to them OP? Do not be too eager to deal out bans and negavols labels, even the very wise cannot see all ends, especially where UT football is concerned.

Wish we had beaten USC and gotten in to a bowl game BUT a balancing a bowl, game prep & recruiting & hiring new OC would be difficult
However, I would rather NOT qualify for a bowl game if the bowl game, would have ended up being 28 - 0 like South Carolina in their bowl game

Please tell me you intended to use the blue font....
