He may not be what some here want, but he does check off the winning record as a HC AND an offensive mind that has been pretty consistent.

He's not Pruitt

I don't blame the guy for taking it and I think he actually has pretty good experience unlike Dooley and Pruitt but we are in this position because we have had horrendous leadership for years. I don't blame DW either. This rests squarely at the feet of Fulmer, Plowman, and Boyd. I hope he wins a NC here but we are likely going to be making a new search in 3-4 years

Horseshoes and hand grenades.

Ifs and buts.

On and on we go.
so you believe that he didn't outcoach Fickell in that game? Did you watch it?
He's a better coach than Kiffin or Chadwell or Elliott or anyone else that has been mentioned.

He may win big here, he may not, but to automatically be negative about this hire is silly

I don't think Fickell is a great coach so I don't give a flying rip if he outcoached him.

Your last part is conjecture. Those other guys have built or contributed to building programs, which is where we are right now. Heupel isn't squeezing wins out of less talent, he's losing more.

That’s riding off the back of Frost players and he took them from 13-0 to 6-4 I don’t want to be negative and we aren’t friends so I can’t text you but just saying

no he's not, they had multiple starters quit the team due to COVID, and they still almost beat Cincinnati
I want to be wrong, but with the resources we supposedly gave White, this guy isn't the guy. There is a coach that's actually won in the sec sitting there.. And we hire heupel... Who we will fire and pay a buyout to in 3 years along with White.

Just because he won the game doesn’t mean you can say he outcoached those other coaches any more than you can say he was outcoached in losses. It’s possible but an oversimplification.

Honestly, looking through that list of results you can see what you want to see. You can make arguments for or against but I do see some troubling info. For the most part he beat the mediocre and bad teams and lost to the better teams. He did beat Cinci in year 1 and Fla Atl in year 2 but he also lost to Tulsa in year 2. There’s also a definite downward trend. One could write the current year off due to COVID but everyone played under weird and crappy conditions and, as we well know, teams saw fit to part ways with coaches based on results in 2020. Coming into the 2020 season who in the world thought Pruitt would be fired after the season? I’m not saying Heupel is going to be a disaster as everyone outside of a handful of coaches is a complete roll of the dice. We chose our game. Time to roll and find out what we have. I hope he does well.

Plus (and this is for all the excuse-makers that hurr durr his roster had opt-outs) good and great coaches can get wins and goodness out of less. This guy ain't it.
he only won 78% of his games, what a loser...and never finished below 3rd in the conference and had a great offense that was competitive in every loss:

his losses:
#11 LSU - L 32-40
at Pitt - L 34-35
at Cincinnati - L 24-27
at Tulsa - L 31-34
Tulsa - L 26-34
at Memphis - L 49-50
#7 Cincinnati - L 33-36
#16 BYU - L 22-49

this isn't Pruitt, especially when you factor in his wins, his offensive ranking each year AND how he owned some other good coaches like Kiffin

he held Kiffin to 14 points while scoring 48, that is outcoaching someone
