Did anyone else notice how we threw to Ethan Wolf once early in the game and never threw to him again? We did this several times last year as well. I don't understand the logic in that.

Thats one of 25 things I don't understand about this team. "Wide receiver university" has turned into "Pound the middle" university!
IF I were a wide receiver I would transfer right the hell out of Tennessee! Remember when Tennessee had and used Tight ends?
BOTTOM LINE.....Tennessee is the least exciting, least imaginative offense in the SEC.
IF Tennessee doesn't get their head out their ass they will be embarrassed several times this year.
IMO, instead of being our breakout year, this is going to be one of our worst!

I was disappointed in the play calling as well. The tight end should be used more. Also, what happened to the option we ran in the bowl game? I know APS was fast defensively, but if this is what we have to offer this year, we might be in for a long one. I hope I'm wrong and we were being cautious in calling the plays. We'll find out for sure next weekend.

He wasn't open most of the night, and when he was, Dobbs was either pressured or doesn't have the talent to get the ball to him.

1) CBJ can be too stubborn and illogical at times. LINE UP UNDER CENTER on goal line. PLEASE!!! HAs CBJ ever heard of a QB sneak?

A QB Sneak would probably work pretty well, considering our weak showing on the OL. Opposing teams would think that line up for the sneak is likely a ruse and would play it soft! :good!:

It seemed like we ran on every first down. Could we mix it up just a little? Jeez.
Another thing I noticed it seemed like they beat it into Dobbs brain not to run. Just scramble around looking for an open receiver. Got to let Dobbs be Dobbs otherwise were toast.

No doubt. Especially in the second half. Run Hurd up the middle on 1st down nearly every series. So predictable. Never had more doubt in Debord than after this game.

I think Jimmy Hyams said it best when butch was hired. "I don't see him being more than a 9 win coach."

He consistentry puts players in horrible positions, doesn't trust his QB, allows for continued horrid play calling, and mismanages his personnel. Heck he even pulled a Dooley Thursday and only trotted out 10 players for an extra point. Unless something changes this week, we are looking at 8-4.

ASU averaged over 5 yds on first down, the Vols barely got two. At least the game will stop all the hype BS.

I agree. Butch is a solid guy, hard worker and has done wonders with discipline and academics. I just don't think he's going to out-coach the elite guys.

I've said from day one I don't think he'll ever win the SEC.

Hope he proves me very wrong, I think he's a very good person and representative of the program.

Probably because it worked, I'm not impressed with our OC and the play calling was horrendous as well..
