My objective view is that at this point Dooley has to go as soon as possible. He's rebuilt this program to as good as he can get it, and for that we should be thankful. But he is not going to take Tennessee back to where it needs to be. A good coach could polish this up nicely. Last night, the North Carolina bowl game, and the Kentucky loss are the three games that showed me he isn't what is needed. Good coaches would have won those games. His statistics in the most important categories are terrible (wins, losses).

I'm not in the mood to hear anyone bash bray when hes got us a big win to start the year off and played very well except for last night.FLA is a very good team and we are to. MISTAKES happen and unless you thought we would win the national championship you should expect no less

I don't care about Akron and Troy. That's just stats padding. I don't even care about the W-L record this year. I care about beating rivals and giving the top teams in the SEC a tough, hard-fought game for four full quarters. The games that matter most are UGA, Bama and SCAR.

We will not be favored in any of those games, and that's where we see if we can play big boy ball or if we're going to hang around the basement of the SEC until we're ready to make some hard choices.
Your right we won't be favored in those games. Maybe thats the incentive these guys need. Too be told they can't win. Maybe thats what fueled fla.last night. We do have enough talent, they've just gotta want it bad enough. Dooley really needs to have a chat with chaney. Should let him know he needs to rethink his offensive calling find another job.

You may be right, but my point is that the time to make that call is not now; this will play itself out over the next few games and the answer will reveal itself. In the meantime dont you think the team deserves our support? Supporting the team means supporting the coaches too!

What I see missing is any type of leadership!!! When Bray got the IG penalty he dropped his head and that was it!! He was done!!! Where is the coach or leader getting these guys back in the game?? Where is the Al Wilson, Peyton,Andy Kelly or all of the great players in the past to motivate these guys?? It shouldnt be hard to get your head back in the game when something goes wrong its in the pre game maxims!!!The coaching staff lacks in leadership, motivation and cant make a second half adjustment to save their lives!!!
Saw it. Agree. Hoping that this was a maturation moment that they learn from.

the biggest problem last night was the offensive play calling. (yes d gave up three big plays.) as discussed yesterday the dbs played press, allowing the line to get to bray, and threw the timing off. also, as discussed, when running press it is important to do the quick slants, quick outs and hitches, none of which happend. the ran deep ins, deep posts, and go routes. very very dumb going for the home run everytime. hence, the gators pass interfered or held just as we knew, and it prevented anything happening. chaney failed.
My biuddies and I, while sitting there at the game had that exact sentiment. I absolutely don't understand WHY we never reacted....even slightly. Heck, if that didn't work then line C.P. up to "end around" from standard OR "Wildcat". One of my biggest issues is the inability to get the ball in the hands of playmakers.

Great post. There's one simple truth to all of this. If we can't play the entire game and take hits at the same time without tucking our tails between our legs then we lose. That is a direct reflection on coaching. If we are simply out played then that's a direct reflection on our players. We need to re evaluate our offensive strategy and reprioritize our recruiting efforts if we want to get back to elite status. It might be a long season but I'm in for life and will bleed orange til I die. GBO!

#2 USC and Kiffin lost to #21 Stanford

#23 Tennessee and Dooley lost to #18 Florida

Need some perspective?

Stanford had home field advantage plus USC didnt quit like our Vols did. USC fought till the end we laid down and soon as Florida tied the game.

I really like DD and hope he can turn us around. We have been in the valley too long. He is entering a three game stretch that will determine his destiny. Can he rally this team to win on the road against UGA and/or Miss St? In my opinion his coaching life at UT depends on it.............

If your not convinced he's in over his head after 4 losing seasons in five years then I don't know what the hell to say:ermm:

As said before I dont profess to have all the answers, only most of the questions. I dont know whether he is in over his head or not and neither do you. You can have an opinion on it and we know what it is. I do know the team needs our support, and as long as DD is our coach I will support him. As I said, the next few games will tell us whether he will have the support of his superiors after this season and thats all that really matters. It matters not what you and I think.
There is alot of disappointment in Volville today. I think we can agree on that...........

Wow and I thought Dooley was hired in 2010.

How in the heck did he manage 4 losing seasons in 5 years while being on the job for less than 3 years?

I lied to myself in the past and I'm done doing it. Dooley needs to go. The sooner he's gone the sooner we'll be on track to a better program.

Look at yourself in the mirror and ask, can Dooley beat MSU or UGA? You know the answer, don't be afraid to tell yourself the truth.

Dooley has never won a game he wasn't suppose too. And he lost games he has no business losing.

You and me both. Last night was his chance. He blew it.

Great post and I agree completely. Love Dooley or hate him, he lost a big game last night that many thought we would win. He needs to beat a quality team. Georgia is beatable. Will UT be favored? Definitely not. Will UT come out with the win? For Dooleys sake, he better hope so.
