Thanks to this past season's big numbers, Montario Hardesty is bound to be picked somewhere in the first 4 rounds of the NFL Draft this coming Spring.

The question is which team do you want him to play for?

I was looking at the Saints running back depth chart and with Reggie Bush not being an every down back and Pierre Thomas not envisioned to be a starter, I think he would be best suited here as he would be explosive in an offense like this. Imagine him playing alongside Drew Brees and fellow alum Robert Meachem.

I don't see that happening. Pierre Thomas is serviceable. I wouldn't be shocked to see him taken by the Giants. I wonder if they question if Bradshaw is the ultimate compliment to Jacobs...

i can see him going to the texans. they really hate running backs fumbling the football like slaton has done all year. Hardesty is really good about ball security and him and slaton would be a great 1-2 punch.

Agreed. Thomas is better than Bush IMO. Buffalo might pick him up... hope not... Patriots would also draft him. I can see the Chargers picking him up. LT is about to retire.

Trade Addai for Montario. Bring him in Colts!!!

I don't say trade him for Joe but Indy would be a great fit. It's obvious the Colts need a consistent 1-2 punch and Montario seems to compliment Addai very well.........plus playing with Peyton never hurts

I thought this was going somewhere else at first.

Teams that I wouldn't be shocked to see take a RB early (regardless of whether or not it's Hardesty):
Giants
Redskins
Lions
Seahawks
Cardinals
Bills
Browns
Chiefs

Eagles
LeShaun McCoy is a great back. However he doesn't have the pass catching hands or Speed of Westbrook. Hardesty has that great ability to cut and catch passes out of the backfield.

I think everyone who says that "this team or that team" needs a running back or doesn't misses the point.

A team that really needs a back will address it with probably a 1st or certainly a 2nd round pick. Hardest is most likely a thrid round pick, which I believe is more along the lines of where a team would take him because he is a good value at that pick. Trust me, the teams that REALLY need a back will shoot over Hardesty. He could go ANYWHERE... I hope, the Saints, my team since 92'!

even though they might not be looking for a running back, i would say hardesty would fit the colts' system really well. hes great on those stretch plays letting the play develop and then exploding. and he can handle the short routes out of the backfield and the physical pass blocking that that system requires.

I believe he goes Day 1 2nd Round. if he runs wild in bowl game which i think he will and runs a 4.4 may be a late 1st rounder

It seems like they will have to drop an RB or two to make room for him though.

I love Hardesty and his contributions at UT. However he has a very suspect set of wheels. Very few NFL teams are going to roll the dice using a high draft pick on a young man at the RB position that has suspect pins. I hope I'm wrong, but the NFL is a business and it's cold hard details that come into play in that league.

True. Once we get past the Spillers and Bests in this draft, there are a lot of variables to come into play between now and April. Here's to hoping MH performs well and gets picked up in a good situation!

I could see Montario doing well in Denver, however with Buckhalter and Moreno I doubt that they will look for RB in the draft. But, Knowshon and Montario would be a hell of a 1-2 punch at RB...

He is not a lock for the 4th. A lot will depend on what he does at the combine. But lots of backs will fall for various reasons, and with Montario's injury problems early in his career, he might get "red flagged" and fall in the draft.

Look at a guy like Javon Ringer who was a workhorse for MSU - he fell all the way to 5th round.

This. As an Eagles fan, I can say first hand that we need another young back to compliment McCoy because Westbrook isn't going to be able to play but for maybe 2 years.

I would be surpised if he isn't taken in the 3rd round or sooner and that is only b/c of his prior issues with his "wheels". If not for that, he would be 1st or early second b/c he would have accomplished more during previous years. I think he will be considered a "steal" as long as he stays healthy. I think another reason for his breakout senior year was Bryce Brown behind him. He made up his mind as soon as Brown and Oku signed that he was going to really step it up. He will need to keep that fire in the combines and at the next level even if he does stay healthy.

Not my vikes, we're pretty good at RB :)

My guess would be any team that could use depth at running back but has no sure bet starter. I could see the Colts getting him if Addai continues to get injured
