Tennessee has always been better,and indeed relished the role of the underdog.Maybe by the end of the year they can take the cape out of the box.

They mention our defense, but they don't mention that they will be coached by Monte. Instead they mention Orgeron. Nothing against coach O, but I think Monte is worth mentioning and I think he will put a very solid D on the field this year.

I remember saying a couple of years ago when Meyer was still new to the league that, from an Xs and Os standpoint, the matchup of Meyer vs Chavis terrified me. I feel completely opposite about the matchup of Meyer vs Monte Kiffin.

That was the 2008 prediction... Not terribly negative if you ask me. Also there's nothing in there we didn't already know. I think we'll be as good as our QB play allows.

Way too early to be accurate. There's Spring ball, the litany of summer DUIs and weed busts, and finally fall camp. Heck, a head coach might get caught hiring transvestite midget hookers! Plenty can happen between now and them.

I just always felt like, apart from any talent differential on the field, Meyer was always going to have Chavis's head spinning in circles with his gameplan. I.e., all other things being equal, UF was always likely to score plenty on us, because Meyer would always be two moves ahead of Chavis from an Xs and Os standpoint.

With Monte Kiffin, I feel like it's the opposite -- I like the Xs/Ox matchup, even against somebody like Urban Meyer. He'll have a better gameplan coming in, and he'll make better adjustments. If it comes down to the so-called "chess match," then I like our chances a whole lot better with Monte than I did with Chavis.

Chavis inability to make adjustments is what handcuffed him. I'm with you. I think Monte has seen it all and will put a dominant D (both personnel wise and scheme wise) on Meyer's @ss next year. Headlines: Monte sidelines the spread!

Saying our Defense won't be as good as last year is rather laughable. I think it could get better, especially with the scheming of monte, the d-line work Orgeron will put in, the advancement in physical ability with the new S&C coach, and the fact we've been complacent for years.

Also maybe on 3rd and long I won't be sitting there going "Lets see how Chavis gives this one up."

There are reasons it is not used in the NFL -- Monte may explain it to Urban come September.

Maybe one of the reasons he wanted to return to the college game, outside of coaching along side Lane, was to see if he could be "the spread killer." How do you think it would feel to be the architect of the defense that neutalizes the spread? CFB HOF coach anyone?
