An attempt at being objective - positives

I'm not saying he can't teach players schemes and techniques. I'm saying he can't manage games effectively. Losers lose and winners win. Simple as that.

Can't wait to see what other intelligent posts you have to offer to this board.

Anyways OP, great post.

I would also say breakout seniors have been a great positive so far. Namely ZRo. Glad to see he has finally found his game. Rivera is a monster, so is Bohannon. If you're going to blame Dooley for every player we have that is struggling this season, then you have to also give him credit for the ones that have obviously been coached up.

Also the place-kicking game has shown great improvement. Been a while since we missed one iirc.

Actually, they weren't saying this directly about Dooley, but about how firing Fulmer led to instability in the program (i.e. Kiffin leaving abruptly, player transfers, recruiting fall-out). No one in Texas really cares about or thinks about Dooley (for obvious reasons).

Which is exactly what I'm saying...Texas does NOT want to have their version of Dooley.

This time next year we will all be talking about how things have really turned around for Dooley and the Vols, and we will be wondering how soon will UT be in the hunt for a national championship.
You or anyone else is a Idiot if you think we all do not want to see Dooley turn us around. I have supported him as hard as I did any coach the past 20+ years. But 8 games in and seeing the same thing gets old.

I know what you mean, BigOrange, but it's one thing to say "We don't want our own Dooley" and it's another to say, "We don't want to have 3 coaches in 5 years". Not defending Dooley, just clarifying what I understood my friend to be saying.

I know it does.

I start each season with the hopes of going undefeated and winning the national championship. The 1st loss always breaks my heart.

Also my post wasn't directed at the op's post as much as it was a broad statement. I didn't think Dooley was the answer when he got the job and I sure don't now. I am tired of this moral victory we are getting better crap. Dooley has directly cost us games via game management.

Dooley breaks Down each game as 2 games, 1st two quarters,2nd two quarters..because if he broke the whole game down he would say the defense sucks.
Dooley breaks the season down into 2 Seasons , 1st 8 games , last 4 games ....because the whole season our defense has sucked!

Can we just make some positive changes to this program to get the players fired up and recruits excited to come here? Do some jersey alterations (Within reason for traditions sake), pump some music into the stadium during games, make recruiting videos (Even Vandy is doing an awesome job of that and they suck) or make a home run head coaching hire that everyone will talk about. These are simple things that can make a program much more attractive to young kids and college students than the horrid Boys of the Fall video. Tradition may have gotten us to a great program, but stubbornness is gonna tank it.

The post has merit. Everyone is just pissed off. We did not hire good secondary coaches. Dooley may quit after the season , or tomorrow. you never know

Sub Par secondary talent...worst in the SEC...Dooley knew this last year thats why he recruited all the DB's

I am really going to enjoy the "lack" of post from all the negative nacys out there when CDD comes back for 2013. My hope is all of them will get so pissed, they go back to being Bammers with Finnebaughm.

should you be fly fishing?

Attempt at being objective = sunshine pumper

Hahaha. Entitled to your opinion. I don't think I'm a sunshine pumper, but you can think what you like.

There's lots to be disappointed in about our football team this year. But I think there's also some things to be encouraged by, if you are willing to suspend emotion due to losses and take a shot at some objective analysis.

If you don't want to, that's fine. But I think my points are solid, even if they don't add up to enough to want to continue with Dooley.

1.) We are improving with Dooley.
2.) We have no shot getting Gruden, who has never done anything in the college ranks anyway.
3.) We are 4 mil in debt from last year, firing these guys would cost us 9mil + new staff $$$
4.) Most of our fans aren't students or morons, but the loudest are (see Doc Vol "blah blah blah Dooley sucks give me Gruden and lets go win!"). Point being many fans would be happy to see Dooley get another year.

Hopefully, we win out, and Dooley gets another year. We'll see what happens.

In 2010 and 2011, we did not go toe-to-toe with Georgia, Florida and SC, with a viable chance to win late in those games.

In this 3rd year, we are now competing head to head with these big-dogs of the SEC East, making them sweat to pull out a win over us, that for a little bit different, could have gone the other way.

And our rivals know it. They would love to see us make another coaching change, bring in a whole set of unknown coaches, throw out this emerging recruiting class and then have our frustrated 4th-yr vets go pro early and young stars transfer.

On the positive side - Dooley has lost any assistant coaches yet this year.

On the negative side - Dooley is still here.

We have talent this year and he hasn't been able to get it done

The defense has let us down. . .especially the D-line. I was watching them against SC and they had slow feet and did not look to me to be very athletic. . .poor line play puts too much pressure on the D-backs who have been porous to say the least.
