Vandy had the ball on their 40 with 5 minutes to go. USC couldn't stop their passing game, yet Vandy turned over on downs. Clearly Franklin is a great coach.

I'll take on Aston :)

First off, the guy has only been on the job through only one season and one full recruiting period. It's a little early to declare anyone 'stupid not to go after' after so little has been seen.

In recruiting, the guy is doing better than Vandy typically does, but let's be honest, that doesn't take much.

The #29 recruiting class in 2012 isn't bad compared to historical Vandy numbers. The main difference from prior years are the three in-state 4 star players, one of them seemingly a headcase. I'm not sure three 4-stars is enough to call him a recruiting ace, regardless of what school he's at.

Also, we saw the kinds of kids Kiffin brought to Tennessee with his hotsauce recruiting, is Franklin doing the same? I'm not saying they are going to go rob gas stations in getaway prius's.... but we saw that it tended to attract a different kind of kid. Can the hotsauce recruiting last through a couple more mediocre seasons?

On the field, the guy didn't inherit a mess like Dooley. He actually inherited a pretty decent roster.

Last year more than half of the team were upperclassmen, including Zac Stacy and Jordan Rogers who probably would've started for Tennessee at some point.

This year they only have 3 underclassman starters- no freshmen. He clearly isn't out-recruiting the current roster.

I'm not saying the guy is a complete slouch, but I'd argue his biggest asset to Vandy has simply been an attitude adjustment and some excitement that a new ballcoach brings to the table.

You're the one advocating action. You can't tell the people with the "wait-and-see" approach to "wait" without sounding like an ignorant jackass.

Vandy got away with some major holding non-calls last nigh, inlcuding the one where Rogers somehow managed to get around the right end and scamper 12 yards for a first down that kept the drive alive where they got the FG to tie the game at 10-10. Then I saw the replay and saw the Vandy OL blatantly grabbing the SC DE's jersey that Rogers managed to get around. And a good team would have beaten that SC team last night, especially w/ their one-armed QB in the 2nd half. SC's offensive line is suspect. They've got inexperienced WRs who are not that big. SOS went to a 2-TE set last night just to have some height at the receiver position. The SC secondary was horrible. They played very tentatively, and were out of position on quite a number of plays. Shaw is a good runnng QB, but does not appear to have that strong of an arm, and SOS has no QB behind him as we saw last night. SOS had to play him even w/ the injury to his throwing shoulder. That was a golden opportunity for Vandy to beat SC, but they could only muster 3 2nd half points.
