I met a couple at my garage sale a few weeks back. They were decked in Bama gear, and their cars were covered in A's. She just came back to pick up the $20 couch she bought and proceeded to dog me about the game, as I was wearing a UT hat. I jokingly told her the couch was more expensive, but she almost started crying so I let her off the hook. Then:

She tells me that her and her husband work all the time at their respective jobs, but can't afford to do much. They go to one game a year and it's their vaca. She told me that she just took their extra money and spent $1500 on 2 lower level tix for LSU game and bought a new dress for $400. She was upset when I joked about the couch because they have NO MONEY LEFT for the next few weeks. When asked why they made that decision, she said, "cuz we don't give a ****, it's alabama football".
Knowledge and common sense are precious things to many people and nonexistent to many others.

Games: Not for everybody. No shame in the cheap seats, I say.

I just can't fathom the buyer's remorse I would have if I spent over 2k on a 3 hr game and it was the only money I had. They aren't even staying in town because she didn't save enough for a hotel room.

As it relates to Bama fans, I'd say they are par for the course.

Their entire fanbase is a mixture of irrational, radical fans and posers. That would be 97% of the Bama fanbase. I encountered one on Saturday that actually had a flag flying on the window of their car, but couldn't tell me the name of their starting quarterback.

I was thinking about going to USC Stanford game this weekend but didn't want to drop the coin.

No way I'd spend that much money to watch LSU walk all over Bama. Even if I was a Tiger fan that money would be buying Xmas and birthdays coming up.

I sure wouldn't do it, but if UT were ranked #2 and getting ready to play LSU, and we read this story about down and out UT fans spending their last dollar, there'd be a few "Hell, yeah!"s on this post. Just sayin'.

I spent $1400 for a pair of club seats at the '09 BCS title game.

I couldn't imagine spending that much $$$ on a regular season game, regardless of how big it is.
