The SEC has been the best conference in CFB for several years now. The ACC has settled in just above the Big East among BCS conferences. Mid-major conferences are producing teams like Boise and TCU who would win the ACC.Amerson is great but not State's only DB. Safety Earl Wolff (love his last name) is preseason all conference and the entire secondary is made up of Seniors and one Junior. That one Junior is Amerson.
I am sure these are good players. I am also sure they would not start for the top tier D's in the SEC. Part of that is the system. Part is pure talent- speed, quickness, strength.
And.... nowhere near the top 20 in any other category. If Bray hits 60%+ like 5 of the better teams you played last year (two were over 73%) then I would give you a couple of picks. You will lose in a laugher. UT's QB and WR's are better than the two that went over 70% against you. Also, State led the nation in INTs and was second in turnovers forced.
Amerson cannot match up with Hunter. Even if he could, that unleashes the other guys on the rest of your secondary. Neither is a good scenario for you.It should be great fun to watch the 1s battle, Amerson (#1) vs. Hunter (#11).
It never ceases to amaze how oblivious some are to how much more difficult it is to win and have good stats in the SEC than in the bottom half of the BCS.I always get a chuckle when I see these types of game by game breakdowns and discounting of accomplishments. By this thought process Chris Johnson should be terrible because he played Conference USA opponents all the time.
The SEC has won 8 of the 14 BCS CG's. The SEC is 8-1 in CG's. Every other conference has a losing record in the CG. ONLY FSU has made it from the ACC and the last time was 2000.
Three weeks from tomorrow, Vol fans.![]()
IF Dooley can coach... you will not know what hit you.
