I will say that American will slow the game down so we probably won't get to the century mark. I say 81-58, it's great to have some Eagle fans on here. Pasadena, what's your perspective on this game?
i tend to agree with you that AU will try and slow the game down. the AU offense is one of the most deliberate in the country. not as much as say the old Princeton teams from the 90's, but kind of like the way Wisconsin is now. they much prefer to play games in the 50s and 60s. they do shoot a high percentage from beyond the arc (third best in Div 1) and rebound surpisingly well for their size. one of their big problems in turnovers and a fast paced atheltic team like UT can really exploit that. i think, in general, that it is difficult for a team like UT to play a slow down game because it is hard for them to get into a nice offensive flow. if AU is shooting well from beyond the arc and remain deliberate and a bit plodding on offense, then i think they can keep it close for at least a half. UT simply has better players and should win comfortably. however, i think the score will be around 65-50 or 70-55, something like this.
With a name like phatphil, I give your opinion as much credit as I give his.I know of Mr. Hill from way back. He went to a different high school than I in the county where I lived growing up. He used to be active in church groups at the University and was a nice guy. He's far from a serial killer. He wouldn't hurt a fly. I haven't heard of him since college.
I had no idea he was writing sports now.
A gut feeling tells me I think he did this to tick the UT fans off around the area as a joke. He's a very open Duke fan, best I can remember.
I do agree however, that it would've been funnier had he picked UNC to get beat. Just imagine how bad the Tar Heel boards would be.
show this to the big guys.
THE BUZZ: It's always easier for a double-digit seed to pull an upset when the big-time opponent doesn't have a roster filled with a plethora of big guys. And sometimes, even when the favorite has a big guy or two, there are reasons not to be that worried about those big guys. FITTING THE PROFILE THIS SEASON: American (vs. Tennessee);
