Am I the only person who attended the game who found themself laughing uncontrollably when the Alabama band did their little tribute to Taylor Hicks? I'm wondering, does an American Idol victory by a goofball Michael McDonald wannabe count as another National championship for the Tide?

Tribute to Taylor Hicks? This is the first I've heard about that.

I'd classify a tribute to Taylor Hicks as pathetic.

Nice work by the Pride, however. Those circle routines are impressive.

The 'Bama representative who was speaking over the PA narrating the band's performance went to great lengths to mention how Taylor Hicks had done such a stirring rendition of "Takin' It To The Streets" on his way to Idol glory. He actually seemed proud to proclaim that the freak is an Alabama native. I almost shot bourbon out my nose I was laughing so hard.

Well, wasn't Taylor winning American Idol the 13th National Championship for Alabama?

Any word of a statue to be built outside Bryant-Denny of him?

It was the only time all day long that the bama band got to finish a song. All day as soon as they started playing, 2-3-4 our band fired up. Looks like everyone that was a part of the representation of the Vols Was making a point not to give an inch. Seemed that way all day long!!

They also played "The Devil went down to Georgia", a song about Georgia written by a Tennessee native and fan.

On a related subject, having seen an interview with Taylor's parents, has a family ever had a more aptly descriptive surname?

The Pride blew the Five Dollar band off the field on Saturday. The circle drill wasn't the best I've ever seen it, but they still represented it well. I told my gf that it looks like the 'bama band wishes they are Jacksonville State.

Interestingly, I think the lyrics to "What a Fool Believes" are rather enlightening on the thinking behind Bama's claims of having 12 national championships.

To me the funny thing is Taylor Hicks is a Auburn University Alumni. Bama band doing a tribute to him seems kinda strange to me.

that says more about bama than anything else ever. forget fake championships, cheating, and firing coaches, they were dumb enough to do a tribute to an american idol who graduated from their hated rival.

Who is Taylor Hicks? Is he the guy that spins around in the Ford commercials?

I was just imagining the Bama band members thinking, "Man, I should have gone to Tennessee." I was waiting for them to give our band a standing o

Someone from upper East Tennessee (Hatvol) calling someone from Hoover Alabama "hick" is like the current head football coach at the University of Kansas (Mark Mangino) calling TCHFCAUTK "fat"!!!:whistling:

I would have pegged Hat as someone from West Tennessee. I also am surprised to see anybody, ever, defend this guy:

Trust me, nobody in their right mind would want to wear that PUKE orange color. Man I am sick of you guys with all your Bull. What is the point? I think really you are BAMA fans that need to come out of the closet. You talk more of BAMA topics than you do UT! What gives?

Now back to your regularly scheduled bull crap......
