Ament and Estrella injuries

Not sure what everyone is complaining about…we blew multiple HUGE leads with the starters in THIS season. So yea, maybe he remembers that since it was like last month against UK.
Exactly. If there is one school that can blow 20+ point leads (basketball or football), it's Tennessee.

Coming out of the timeout with two minutes to go up 20 and Estrella rolls his ankle, there is no good reason he or any of the other significant players are in the game. Why not just throw in your deep reserves and walk on players to get minutes in dance? I find this inexcusable to say the least.

Ament I think we are all ok with sitting, if it was tight I am sure he would be in there but his play was concerning nonetheless. Regardless big win, proud of Vols and we can all agree they exceeded expectations. Feel good about Sunday
I’ve never understood this either
Take out main players for rest and protection.

Personally I think Ament is the much bigger concern. Not only was he scoreless, he showed no aggression and seemed borderline timid. If this is the Ament we get on Sunday, I think a team like Virginia can do a lot more to exploit that and work on limiting JG than our opponent today could.
Can we beat UVA without Nate? Sure
But the lads would need to shoot at least around 45%/35+/75% and less than 10 turnovers to did it. Every single year Barnes has had a MAJOR injury entering the tournament and they have still done incredible. Olivier, Alexander, Bone, Fulky, ZZ, Santi, JJJ, plus others and Coach still manages to win games. I would love for them to be completely healthy one time and see what happens.

No, he's not ready to be a high contributor. Yes, he is absolutely ready to take his game to the league. He will develop much faster in the environment. Hey, I don't totally disagree that it could help him to stay at UT another year. He loves UT and the college life. Being comfortable and getting another year of high college level development could be beneficial too. That's a could be vs. a would be as far as the NBA and development. Getting to that second contract sooner too, but maybe he doesn't care about the difference in 8 and 7 figures cash. I selfishly hope he stays
Several young men were told they were ready for the league and never came close to a second contract. Coming back one more year would benefit him tremendously imho. He’d still get paid, he’d get even stronger, and maybe most importantly, avoid being drafted during a season with a huge group of incredible freshman and others.
He could conceivably not be a 1st round pick at his year.

He could conceivably not be a first round pick this year? If that is what you're saying with that last fragmented comment, you just lost the little credibility you might have had left

I agree on not needing 30 from Ament, but in reality, I don't think we can count on back to back games from Gillespie like he just gave us. There has to be a 3rd scorer. We desperately need Estrella to be a big contributor IMO. He's oft injured and maddeningly inconsistent much like some of our other post players from recent years. Maybe Evans will be well enough to give us a spark against Virginia? Would love to think Gillespie and Ament both go off against UVA, but it seems like it's more of an either/or situation with those two.
The stats don't support this take at all...in fact, it's the opposite (highest on the the team with 12 or more mpg, top tier for all of the SEC for 4 or 5 position). We actually have to play him 25+mpg and then we actually have to post him up and pass him the ball more than a few times per half.

It's strange how some get offended when Ament is criticized for how bad he's played the last two games.

They quickly bring up the Auburn game. He was great that game. Where is that now? Where was that against Vandy and Yesterday? He pulls another no show and the season is over.

Guys, it’s ok to say he's playing bad. You won't lose you Vol Fandom.
Agree- it’s okay to state facts- Ament has been MIA last 2 games.

I think most agree with you while adding the injury is the cause of poor play.

Either way, Ament needs to come out today and show who he is or TN loses. Most players aren’t 100% rt now.

Yes I don’t think it would be a stretch for him to fall out of the 1st round. With a little research, I could probably find 32 guys who could be rated ahead of him in the world. I mean there are at least 12 freshman that could go above him, I’d say at least 12 others from Soph to Senior classes, and there are probably another 12 foreigners that we have never heard of that are incredible as well. Do I anticipate him dropping out? No I do not but would it surprise me if he did this particular year? No it wouldn’t. It’s and incredibly strong class. I think Ament is a winner through and through and will be a pro for a long, long time but another year in college wouldn’t hurt him. Another year stronger, money will still be there, and next years draft class has been predicted to be much less talented which could help him land that huge money top 5 pick status! There I hope I completed my sentences well enough to suit you and I don’t give a rip about having credibility on an anonymous forum. Lol
By the way, you don’t put a period at the end of your last sentence so be careful moving forward. Go Vols!

We’re also assuming UT wants to pay him $4 million again. I wouldn’t. I think this was a strategic error by Barnes. I think that money would have better been spread around with experienced, proven transfers. We could have had Miles from Vandy or Rice, or a number of other options, specifically shooters.

The only real value in these players is what they do this time of year.

It's more than a stretch since virtually everyone is saying he's top 15
