Am I the only positive VOL left?

You are not alone. What I don't understand, is what the negative fans thought was going to happen? We just played a season with 10 Seniors (many of which did not contribute much on the field) and 17 Juniors (same story)- then there were about 87 Freshman/Sophs (redshirt or not). On top of that, our three cross-over opponents finishes in the TOP 5. On top of that, our best defensive player was booted just before the season. On top of that, our best offensive player was lost for the season in the third game. On top of that, our blossoming young QB was lost for the middle stretch of the SEC schedule.

This coach of ours is standing in the fire that was lit by his predecessors. Lit by Phil Fulmer, John Chavous and the Kiffins. WAKE UP! GET REAL! He is recruiting well. He is holding everyone accountable. He is doing all of the right things. Including, not rushing into a "splash hire"- one that so many fans seem to want.

Find the right coach. Take your time. Get the right coaches- get it right- it is more important than the timing.

I'm a positive Vol as well. Reason I have kept my mouth shut...all the negavols have no clue what they're talking about...IMHO. I'll support whoever is hired no matter what. Have been a Vol fan since we beat Miami in the Sugar Bowl. I may get bashed for having a low number of posts on here, but simply put I just haven't felt the need to make a comment on some of these posts.

GO VOLS!!!!

Look at this way, at least we're not Penn State. I like PSU (especially compared to the other Big 10 teams) and JoePa, got a lot of friends who are graduates. Man, you talk about a down group of folks. That's rough what they're going through. We're just having a few down years that ALL teams go through (name one that hasn't). We'll be back and I believe sooner rather then later.

One more thought. If it wasn't for our great facilities and our good fan base we would be much worse off than we are !!!! These are the only things holding us together right now. Think about it !! If something doesn't happen soon, I am afraid our new 48 milllion dollar facility will make good storage facilities !!! I certainly pray this doesn't happen because I am , and always will be, a VFL. A very concerned VFL !

The statement about having to support the coach if you support the team is false. That said, I will reserve my judgement until after the season. If he can't get it done in 2012the or AT LEAST make great strides, it will be time to move on.

Look, if Vic N Bills suddenly came under new management and the legendary burgers that I have always loved started to suck, I would still love Vic N Bills, but I would hope for a new manager to come in and restore the burgers to their former glory.

That's funny. Would you blindly keep going back to Vic N Bills hoping for a legendary burger or would you ask them questions about why they changed the recipe? Would you take your friends or out of towners there after you've hiped up the burgers only to look like an idiot after they sucked and brag about how great they used to be?

I can't get on volnation these days without reading everything possible negative about the program. Now I understand we are in a down time right now as a program, but what people need to look at is the bright side of things. With these coaches leaving, we now have the opportunity to bring in new coaches who could potentially be a better fit for Tennessee and gel with Dooley. It was obvious something wasn't right between DD and his old staff, but most of those guys are gone now. He has the chance to bring in different guys with a new AD who will be willing to spend in order to win now. I like our potential on the offensive side of the ball regardless of if Heistand leaves or not. I feel like Chaney, Graham, and Hinshaw are all staying regardless of what happens and we could find a replacement for Heistand that would be just as serviceable. Combine all this with the amount of starters we are returning and the recruiting class we are bringing in, all of a sudden things are looking pretty bright on the hill! I can't wait till the rest of the fan base realizes Tennessee is on it's way back with Dooley at the helm if they will just be patient and let him work this offseason instead of making him feel as if he needs to look over his shoulder for the next HC coming. If you support the team, you gotta support the coach too. GO VOLS!! :loco:

No... I'm still here

Just ignore the trolls, or point and laugh (guys like fearless freep, for instance).

Dooley is taking us in the right direction. Next season is gonna be a blast.

What are these anti-Dooley guys gonna do when we start winning? Act like they liked him the whole time. Thats the saddest part of all

Btw, i'm not anti-Dooley. I'm just tryin to have some fun.

I love Dooley especially off the field. But he needs to prove and he can get it done on the field as well.

Yes, now is a great opportunity to bring in a different coach; however, in 2008 and again in 2009, no one was interested in the job.
We are truly in a down cycle. Take in to account, (1) Tennessee is not fertile recruiting soil (2) consider how we treated Fulmer & Kiffin and how we are currently treating Dooley on this web site and other web sites. What coach would want to come here, knowing that the fans have un realistic expectations. Once you don't live up to their expectations, they call for your head?
Honestly, if you were Gruden or Cowher, who had nice media jobs and work maybe 9 months of the year, would you come to U.T.?
If you were Lovie Smith and you only had a few years before you were eleigible for an NFL retirement, would you come to U.T.?
If you coached at TCU, Boise State, etc. would you leave that job to come to the S.E.C. East?
We need to settle for the best coach that we can possibly get, even if it is not the one we truly want. We also need to be patient and watch this program grow slowly, season by season. Look how many seasons it took for South Carolina to go from getting to a bowl game, to winning the bowl games, to qualifying for the S.E.C. Championship game, to an 11 game win season. It took several seasons of steady growth. In that time, they had 2 coaches, Holtz & Spurrier.
If they can do it, then surely we can do it.

I've been a Vol from Dickey, Battle, Majors, Fulmer, Kiffin and Dooley. And I'll be a Vol no matter who follows next.

You can spin it anyway you want it.But the realism is you have a coaching staff who hates the head coach and players who hate the head coach. And no matter what shows up on any half baked blog won't change until he is gone or does a huge change and if he doesn't he walks away with 5 million. Do any of you see your exit from a job and getting a package like that
