Except for the running sore known as J G , I SAW things that made me feel better about the future. We have a lot of top-notch young guys who will be great players once they learn the system. Taylor and JG cost us the game. Taylor will get better. JG is a hopeless failure and totally unfit to be a quarterback in the SEC. However, these young guys will learn enough to beat Ky, Vandy, Mo, and SC this year, IMO. The effort and hustle was evident tonight and the number of mistakes will lessen as the season progresses. Winning 4 games in the SEC will take some of the sting from these early losses ( at least I hope it will happen ). How can a player with as much game experience as JG be such an complete idiot calling plays and reading progressions ? He was LATE on most of his throws- guys were open all night long. It is shocking that they thought JG could help this team this year. He has all the wrong instincts= he throws the ball late and with little accuracy. All the other teams need to do is blitz a LB or cornerback from his left side and close to the sideline. He must be blind in one eye- he never sees it coming. The first TD should have been an INT and of course he threw another terrible pass that was picked off. Even when he completes the ball - it is usually thrown where the guy cant make any YAC yardage . What a loser!

Nope, let’s ride.

I have Vandy and Kentucy in my pipedream wins. No way with Mizzou nor SC. There are going to be some bad losses that could just as easily result in a team that has given up by the end of the season as result in them "developing".

I'm not heartened, exactly, because the end of the game/overtime was a debacle. I do agree that the offensive line looked better this week and we've got some genuinely good running backs and receivers. I also agree that QB is the biggest offensive question mark. There are some signs this could be a pretty good offensive football time down the line, but they still have a lot of work to do.

I will take the over on the combined loss differential to FL, GA and Bama at 150 points.

It's just you.

Until Cheney is gone, this program is rudderless.

I'm just sick of losing, and unfortunately, I see a lot more losing this year than winning.

I don't think some of you understand just how bad BYU is. I guess you can make an argument that there was improvement over last week... but that is modest praise. Three months from now there will no doubt that this is the worst team in Tennessee history and one of the worst teams in SEC history.

There is some good. JJ saved two touchdowns from the quarterback's inability to play football at this level and was there to be counted on by example and voice as a leader. Gray and Chandler were strong throughout. The offensive line play was better. The defensive line play was better than expected. I can't wait to see Bituli line up alongside Henry T. Barring injury, that kid is going to be a joy to watch play.

The problems tonight were short yardage blocking on interior rushes, mental breakdowns in the secondary, and the complete liability that is our starting quarterback.

OP - I am with you. A good game plan. Saw good line play, (even d-line if they have some rest). The RB's, even think the Grey may make the awards discussions in 3 years. See strength in the W/R's. The young players are really strong (both sides of the ball). Painful to accept, but youth does come with execution issues. The LB's / DB's are really athletic, but lacking comprehensive understanding. The O-line and LB's will be really strong in 2 years.

Concerned about QB - need to change to unleash the playmakers. Slow QB adjustments / reads / decisions / late passing / missing strides eliminate the open space playmaking abilities. This was clear with the running game - once the RB's got to the second level, they are something. Same with the W/R's, if we can get "on-xxx". Need some depth on D-Line OR we have to sustain drives to give some rest.

I can go on, but I don't expect much until the QB play improves. My fear is the JG is the best of the bunch.
