Am I the only one who doesn't understand the confidence around Alabama this year?

He looks like a guy that knows he’s in way over his head.

The expectations at Bama are far more superior than at Washington.
I think you're misreading it. This guy gets 78 million dollars even if he gets fired. Would it really matter to you if you were fired from a job you made 78 million dollars from? What is going to happen to him if he fails at Bama? He's still filthy rich. He doesn't care if he wins or not. Why would he? Would you? He had no previous ties to Alabama.

I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say he doesn’t care about winning.

IMO, he took the job without fully grasping how extremely difficult it is to meet expectations that Nick Saban built around the program.

Now he’s feeling the heat and looks very uncomfortable on the sidelines.

You have every right to whatever opinion you want to hold.

I never expected another Saban. I'm sure the most delusional fans did, but that will always be the case. And I wanted to give DeBoer the benefit of the doubt for having to work around Milroe's mercurial quarterback play.

But it's now pretty clear that he doesn't know what he's doing. He expects talent and scheme to win out every time and that is simply not the case. The coaches don't prepare, they don't adjust, and worst of all they don't hold anyone accountable. I know Saban's sideline meltdowns were memeworthy at times, but he did not tolerate mental mistakes. His teams won because they were mentally tougher than their opponents. DeBoer is totally uninterested in accountability. He doesn't even talk to the players during the game. It's not that his players are tuning him out, because that would require there being something to tune out.

Through 14 games, KDB has lost to more unranked opponents than Saban did in 17 seasons. KDB now owns the two largest margins of defeat that a Top 10 Bama squad has ever suffered to unranked opponents. He has two losses to teams that went 2-10 the year before.

The worst part of the loss yesterday was DeBoer's interview heading into halftime. He said "We gotta play like we prepared." Given the performances his teams has put up in their last four games, I'm pretty sure they've been playing exactly like they prepared.

Starting to look like a senior laden UW took advantage of a watered down Pac 12 and Sark's ability to shat the bed in big games and parlayed it to the Bama job. There were a couple of games UW overcame huge coaching blunders to escape with a W.

Was fortunate to escape Texas game with one of the all time biggest coaching blunders of all time though (but it cost him his star RB the next game)...

Even I am surprised about the fall. I expected Alabama to fall out of being top 5 regularly but not to fall into 3-5 loss territory, at least not so quick.

Do you not read history? Every empire eventually crumbles. Especially in sports where generational talents are usually the only reason certain teams do well. Look how quickly the Bulls collapsed without Jordan or the Patriots without Brady. College football is no different though it tied to the coaches rather than the players. When generational coach leaves or falls off the program usually crumbles. It's happened over and over again. I mean its already happened to Alabama before. Why wouldn't it happen again?

You hit the nail on the head.

I honestly was stunned Bama went after DeBoer, I didn’t think he was going to fit well in the SEC at all

Which is why I hope you guys give him a lifetime contract LOL

They tried to get Lanning at first and he wisely turned them down. Alabama is not that attractive of a job if you think about it. In the new era of NIL they're not exactly richer than anybody else. They don't have the Nike money Oregon has or the oil money of Texas.

I don't see any elite coach going there. Their best hope is they hit on some young up and comer like we did with Huepel. The era of getting to hand pick an already proven elite coach is over unless you have some deep pockets willing to commit crazy NIL money.

True but even after Bryant left, they were still 9-10 win team for a few years.

I picked them to win the SEC. I believe they are the most talented team in the league, top to bottom, and Debore always does very well in his 2nd year at a program. Plus he has his OC back from Washington. I'm low-key kind of dreading our trip to Tuscaloosa this year.
Be braver than that. Two straight losses to Tennessee for CKD might signal his end before he even gets started good....
