Am I the only one who doesn't understand the confidence around Alabama this year?

Bama is friggin loaded. I’d swap rosters in a heartbeat. The biggest question is QB, but DeBore has his OC back and they’ll be running his full playbook. He’s also dominating in recruiting.
I'm afraid you are correct friend. Great recruiting can cover up alot including coaching! It tears me say that the criminal tide isn't going downhill.

I'm seeing lots of so-called experts predicting they make the SEC Championship Game this year. Its almost a given to all the experts that they make the playoffs. I know they have an elite team on paper but lots of teams with great recruiting have been bad. See Texas before Sark and Texas A&M under Jimbo.

I have a feeling Alabama is set for a downturn. The days of being elite are obviously over. But I don't think its crazy to think they might be returning to the Brody Croyle days. I could easily see Alabama going 8-4 this year.
No, I'm right there with you. Kevin isn't Saban. What he did at his previous stop was in the weakest conference in CFB. What he has going for him is, it is Alabama. He has the players for now.

As much as I've doubted Bama, Deboar's road woes, and Debiar's rushing scheme, I was surprised Ty Simpson played alright, even if he wasn't very efficient.

Ty played about as well as he could have. He had no run support, poor blocking, and outside of Bernard his receivers either couldn't get open or dropped well thrown balls. Simpson kept plays alive and didn't turn it over. Not sure what else he could have done.

DeBoer simply doesn't know how to prepare his team to play in all three phases. He's lost.

Sure, blame it on the coach.

Kudos for showing up to take your lumps. Bama is crashing down. The Bama legacy was basically two generational coaches (Bryant and Saban). Outside of those two, Bama is no different than any other SEC program.

I never expected another Saban. I'm sure the most delusional fans did, but that will always be the case. And I wanted to give DeBoer the benefit of the doubt for having to work around Milroe's mercurial quarterback play.

But it's now pretty clear that he doesn't know what he's doing. He expects talent and scheme to win out every time and that is simply not the case. The coaches don't prepare, they don't adjust, and worst of all they don't hold anyone accountable. I know Saban's sideline meltdowns were memeworthy at times, but he did not tolerate mental mistakes. His teams won because they were mentally tougher than their opponents. DeBoer is totally uninterested in accountability. He doesn't even talk to the players during the game. It's not that his players are tuning him out, because that would require there being something to tune out.

Through 14 games, KDB has lost to more unranked opponents than Saban did in 17 seasons. KDB now owns the two largest margins of defeat that a Top 10 Bama squad has ever suffered to unranked opponents. He has two losses to teams that went 2-10 the year before.

The worst part of the loss yesterday was DeBoer's interview heading into halftime. He said "We gotta play like we prepared." Given the performances his teams has put up in their last four games, I'm pretty sure they've been playing exactly like they prepared.

Even I am surprised about the fall. I expected Alabama to fall out of being top 5 regularly but not to fall into 3-5 loss territory, at least not so quick.

You hit the nail on the head.

I honestly was stunned Bama went after DeBoer, I didn’t think he was going to fit well in the SEC at all

Which is why I hope you guys give him a lifetime contract LOL

What is most astounding is that DeBoer isn't losing to the best teams he's facing. Other than UT last year, he's handled every ranked opponent he's faced. Losing to the really good teams would be understandable. What KDB is pulling off is insane.

He looked like a guy that was feeling the pressure. I thought his body language on the sideline was atrocious
