Am I the only one that thinks we can beat Georgia?

Lol. Some of us just view reality through a different lens than others. Do I enjoy that my opinion of the Vols are this low? Hell no. I hate it. I have never felt this bad about TN since I became a fan at 10 years old.

But facts are facts.

You’re calling a statement that a 21 point loss to UGA would be awesome a fact? This some new educational program?

If we come within 21 of UGA, that shows huge improvement. I would think everyone wants to see improvement.

Richt goes to the NC game with that team. Georgia had the most loaded roster they’ve ever had last year and went through the worst East in conference history.

I highly doubt that. They probably don't beat ND with Richt as HC and lose to Auburn in the SEC title game as well. He's proven time and time again with loaded roster after loaded roster that he can get you all ramped up to think it's your year only to have it all come crashing down. Did the same thing with Miami last year too.

If Richt had been there last year, he loses at least 3 games...ND, AU, and might have even lost to South Carolina and never played AU in the SECCG. If he had made it that far, second loss to AU, and probably a loss to UCF in that Peach Bowl game. He is just NOT a big-game coach anymore like he was the first several years of his career at UGA. Look at Miami last year. How do you go into a game against a 3-8 Pitt team ranked #2 in the nation and lose? That was the 'WTF' loss that his teams have always pulled.

Jeremy Pruitt, Kirby Smart could heat up Tennessee-Georgia rivalry
According to this article Pruitt was part of this 17 defense. After a little research, he was on that staff in 14 and 15 and he helped develop and trained.that defense that was so good last year. So, the question that I have, was that Pruitt’s defense from Georgia last year or some of the players? He also recruited some of those guys back in 14 and 15. Does Pruitt have bitterness toward Smart, because he let him go in Georgia?
I believe the war has just begun. Smart can’t beat Pruitt.👍💥
No one can beat us until they do ! Go VOLS!

Georgia is losing a good bit of starts on their front 7 though they are bringing back some guys that played a good bit as I understand, but on the whole, the defense shouldn't be quite as stout. Their offense is basically intact minus Chubb and Michel, that's a big minus, but the freshman they had last year No. 7 is ridiculous and they've got two stud freshman coming in. They'll be hard for anybody to stop. On the flip side, I think we are more talented than people give us credit for, we have just been poorly coached. If Pruitt is a good head coach (we know he's a good assistant), we should be a lot more competitive with them this year, beating them in Athens is a tall order, but not impossible.

They lost their Al Wilson...they’ll slip beyond what their talent level indicates.

Two months later and yes....you’re the only one who thinks we can beat Georgia this year.

One day soon I expect to get over it but Lyle Jones put the program back to square 1 to where he took it over. The team was woeful last year against UGA and the gap was shocking. We saw it coming though in preview performances leading up to that game.

I don't think the Vols beat them this year in Pruitt's transition year because we have no idea how good or bad the players are we have returning. If the Vols were to beat UGA then Pruitt will probably own Smart.

One thing I do know is if Jones was a good coach and we know he's not then he would've beaten UGA 4 years in a row and one or two wins would've been decisive.

They also return 5 of 7 on the offensive line, including both TEs. They return all but one WR. And of course, Fromm returns at QB, but is one play away from 5-star Justin Fields playing. He has the wheels to make the plays that Fromm can't on the ground.

It seems to me that I’m the only Tennessee fan that thinks that they can beat Georgia. I will stick to my saying, Smart can’t beat Pruitt. Why am I the only one thinks this? Georgia has a young team this year, and it doesn’t matter what they have 4 or 5 star players. We can beat them.:)

Expectations are a tad high for a team that is one year removed from having the worst record in UT football history. To believe that this team will instantly compete with the ranks of UGA, Florida and S. Carolina may be premature.

Hopefully the "fire pruitt" posts will be minimal once reality sets in mid-season.

I don't subscribe to the idea that there are ever automatic losses or wins, especially not in July because anything can happen, and right now there are too many unknowns: turnovers, injuries, fluke plays, the emergence of unforseen great players (or surprisingly poor ones). I will watch every game with hope that we will win, but as to the Bama, AUB, and UGA games next year, I wouldn't call it reasonable hope, just a fan's hope for a miracle. While I admire OD's dogged optimism, at this point saying "Smart can't beat Pruitt" has as much validity as saying "Saban can't be Pruitt" or "Derek Mason can't beat Pruitt", we don't know because Pruitt has never been a head coach. As to WV, UF, UK, MIZZOU, SCe, or Vandy, I think a reasonable argument can be made that we can beat any or all of them. If Pruitt's our guy I think we should go 4-2 or better against that set. With our talent, regardless of past attrition and poor coaching we should beat Charlotte, UTEP, and E. Tenn. St. barring a 500 year flood of bad luck and injuries, which frankly I think we've already endured in the last 10 years. But with Georgia, barring the same type of good fortune in our favor, the gap this year is just too wide and it's on the road. Their back up kicker got PT against us last year OD, I just don't see it. I hope I'm wrong and we get that miracle.
