Am I missing something with South Carolina?

From reading the Florida boards today, things don’t seem to be going swimmingly down in Gainesville. Seems as tho Mullen can’t recruit worth a crap and I would say half the fans down there already are eyeballing him. Lolol.

So. With that said:

UGA
Scar
Tenn
Florida
Everyone else.

Everyone needs to understand that people predict based on what happened last year. These people are not fans of every school in the country and cannot look at things about our individual school like we can. Anyone that is unbiased towards either school would logically say that the 9-4 team is better than the 4-8 team. However, most of us can agree that a Pruitt coached team versus a Butch coached team could have very different results. This team could be 5-7 this year or win it all. No one really has any idea how good of a coach Pruitt is, how much talent our team actually had last year, and how much talent we have gained going into this year. Those factors along with the possibility that this team meshes well and works hard means that really no one can predict what we can do. Its all based off of last year's record and the trends exhibited by first year head coaches in the past, which may or may not apply.

I think they have a lot of faith in that WR/RB they have Deebo....somethin, they think he's bo Jackson or Herschel Walker. I also think they have more faith in Bentley their QB than he has shown.

Apparently they have a decent QB according to some writers?? and in my experience a great deal of the "hype" of a team comes solely from the skill of their QB for some reason. Just go back a few years.....Oklahoma,Miss State,UCLA,etc etc etc.

If T-Rob gets the offense rolling they will be tough. Offense is what's held back Mustardchamp his whole coaching career.

They have been recruiting fairly well. There only big loss from last year was TE Hurst.

I guess experience and weak conference schedule with Georgia at home, Tennessee at home, at Florida, home for aTm and at Ole Miss for crossover teams. Only Arkansas could make this a weaker conference schedule.

Getting Georgia early is a plus because they replaced a ton of starters on defense as well as Chubb and Sony and best WR.

Didn't they lose Skai Moore as well?

It seems a lot of people think they can compete for the East this year. I dont see it. What am I missing? Last year, I saw a South Carolina team that was slightly less sucky than UT in a year where the Vols were historically bad. If Pruitt is the guy we think he is, the Vols should be at least third in the East behind Georgia and Florida. I just dont see any reasons to believe that South Carolina is going to be relevant in the East this year. Thoughts?

You don't see it in USC, but see Fla. as 2nd; now that makes a lot of sense.

The Vols are as good or better talent-wise as anyone in the East other than Georgia and they aren't 41 points worse than the Dawgs. That said at least right now I would make SCAR a 5-7 point favorite as the game is in Columbia and SCAR has a proven QB. But its a long time until 10/27. Its hardly a stretch to say the Vols could be second in the East. That's less about Tennessee being all that great and more about the East other than Georgia being pretty bad. GBO!

To me it’s not about who they are, but when they get the teams on the schedule. They could very easily get after UGA and then lose to us . UGA will be very good, but maybe not early. They will come to Columbia at 3:30 or a night game and that place will be rolling. I don’t give a damn what Gary Danielson says, momentum matters. If a young team gets down in a hostile environment it’s tough to comeback.

I think UGA-Sc game is CBS 330

From 0 SEC wins to at least 3rd? You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you think he's going to turn it around that fast.

UK, UF, SC games were all one possession games. Two come here. Give me 4-4 in SEC play.

Didn't lose a ton of guys, bring back experienced and talented QB, WR, RB, solid O-line, solid defense.

On paper they are more talented than Florida, certainly more talented than Tennessee. They do get Georgia at home in Week 2
.

On paper they're not. Maybe when you factor in experience and coaching, but just based on average star rating they're 5th in the East. The only teams behind them are Missouri and Vanderbilt.

It took a miracle for them to beat a terrible Michigan team, barely beat a terrible Florida and Tennessee, and lost to Kentucky.

No, not a chance in hell they're winning the East.
