Am I a real fan?

:birgits_giggle: But seriously, Tennessee is a football school. If your boss is thinking about basketball a week before the start of football season I'm thinking maybe he's the one that is the bad Volunteer fan.

Of course feetball should be at the fore-front of our thoughts but I'm constantly thinking about the BasketVols and the BaseVols too.

Call me a pig, but I just can't stomach watching women play sports.

Are we really arguing about this?

Tennessee basketball was more compelling than Tennessee football in two recent decades (70s and 2000s) and an argument could be made that they were pretty even for most of the 1980s.

I am excited about football season too, but man, I don't get this football first attitude with hoops treated as an afterthought.

I'm a Tennessee fan for all sports. I think your boss has basically written the Season off like a lot of the pundits out there, and is looking ahead to Basketball. Sounds like maybe he's not the true fan. But don't argue with the Boss. Not good, especially in this Economy.

main focus should be on football, but i am really excited about basketball. I look on here for basketball forums and there is never an exciting piece of info except Brian Williams working out. but i digress, football is the main priority and will continue to be the main priority until SEC Championship. it will then resume during bowl week.

Do not ever mention Womens sports in the same breath with REAL mens sports ever again! Its ok to be more in love with one sport than another , as long as you are not the type that pulls for Vols in football, Kentucky in basketball and LSU in baseball. if you are that type turn in your resignation as a Vol fan to this wonderful website.

I never post on here, but I could not resist responding to this ridiculous statement. I'm going to assume this was sarcasm, but at the chance that it wasn't, please read on.

Women may not be as physically strong as men, but do not discount what they do on the field, court, whatever. They are REAL athletes playing REAL sports. To deny that is to be sexist and narrowminded. I'm not saying you have to watch and/or cheer for the Lady Vols (in any sport), but just don't disrespect these ladies and what they do. They give their all for Tennessee just like the men do.

Don't let your Boss know your handle on here. Lol...I'd say as long as you root for UT in any game they'd play and in any sport then that's all that matters. I think we did good in Tennis this year. Could I give a racquet? No. Excited for those that do? Yes. The only real cheerleaders are the ones at FB games to me but they work a lot harder on their competitions. But who doesn't like all [edit] (female) cheerleaders.

I pull for all UT sports and if on TV I will watch (even the lady vols). I don't see how any fan can call another a non fan.

I grew up watching UT Football and UNC basketball. Anything else besides basketball im pulling for UT. I live in Tennessee and go to every football game at Neyland that I can, and never have been to a UNC basketball game. If im not at Neyland then im watching the game on tv. I just never got into basketball at UT. Thats just how I grew up, and if someone says to my face that im not a fan then I will just laugh in their face.

I grew up in NC and live here now and was raised on UT football and UNC basketball pretty much too HOWEVER if UT and UNC happen to play eachother in any sport I've just got to pull for the Vols. I love UNC basketball and they are almost always better than the Vols but again...if they play eachother...Go Vols !!

Now if I'm betting $$...Tarheels it is. :eek:lol:
