This. Coaches can't make the shots, the players have to do that. I think playing a big rival in the previous game took more out of us than we thought. A lot of shots were coming up short. Houston was very good, but had we hit some of those shots they might have felt some pressure.Totally disagree. We have the right coach, give credit to Houston for an outstanding defensive game Plan. They cut off the head of the snake (ZZ) and he had no impact on the game offensively. He couldnāt get into the paint and do any damage. Sure one can argue we wasnāt ready, and that falls on our coaches but I think most of vol nation over valued our win over Kentucky and under valued how good Houston is. They are not flashy they just grind offensively, hit timely 3s, and tap out offensive rebounds to get more chances to score. Defensively, they make you execute and we had no low post presence to score to release the defensive pressure to score on our guards. So, I say it again, Rick Barnes is the right coach, you are just frustrated like we all are about our performance today.
That's the way it looks when the other team is better sometimes. I've heard too many top of the shelf professional athletes say it when fans bemoan that they weren't ready or prepared. We were ready. They are better. When we got a few open looks from time to time, we looked shell shocked shooting it.We weren't ready to play. Bottom line.
We canāt say today was unprecedented. We played like this against UF . . . And had other games where we could not score. All teams struggle to score at times . . . But it is an argument of degree. The extent to which we cannot score when cold is remarkable.
Yeah, we don't have any offensive post presence who can help keep the defense honest.Itās in part because we havenāt had a Grant Willams type who can back someone down and either pass to a cutter for a layup, convert a bucket himself, or get fouled and make the FTs.

And Grant was 6ā5ā, we need bigger guys like Broome and Caldwell. Look at Florida, look at all these other top teams. They got big guys with meat on their bones. Even Houstonās 6ā8ā guys have very long arms and are big and athletic. We got abused by them. That's 100% true about not having a Grant Williams right now. Unfortunately for him, and us as fans, he never got past the Sweet 16. We've made 2 EEs since he was here.
It's nice for you to tell us how we got abused after going 31-8, advancing to the EE. I'm disappointed but greatly appreciative of this great season. Look dude, I love the Vols and we had a great year. No need for you to be a smart arse when I mention where we need to improve. We had a great year, but donāt attack me for mentioning where we need to take the next step. I love the Vols and I donāt need your snide comments when I am stating truths. I loved this team and their effort. We just got to keep elevating. GBOIt's nice for you to tell us how we got abused after going 31-8, advancing to the EE. I was afraid of the emotional carry over from the Kentucky game. Still a great year if for nothing else but sending the Csts homeThe moment certainly appeared too big for us, and that was disappointing. A completely different team came out of the tunnel than the one that whipped Kentucky 2 nights ago.
Thank Goodness for me I was exercising my first amendment right as you are at the moment, not withstanding your deluded sense of sanctimony@BernardKingGOAT
You gotta stop insulting hurt fans on here man who remotely question your god. UT choked today. In fact, we are now in the record books today with the lowest points EVER for a 1 or 2 seed. Barnes owns that record now and will never lose it. He has done a lot of really good things here but his reputation of not being able to win the big one is a reputation he earned himself. Itās not the fans fault for being able to see it. Had a great year. We maxed out our teams potential. Go Vols!
I feel like the seniors wanted to win this one for Barnes so badly they played tight. It was a great tourney up until that point, some of the best I've seen from Barnes squad. Then EVERY SINGLE PLAYER played like trash until Gainey saved them from more embarrassment. ZZ and Maschack was unusually bad. Think the pressure got to them.Correct. Even the color commentator said we looked timid to start the game. ZZ and Lanier 5-27. We led in one category - most turnovers. It was a classic UT choke.
Look at how UF and Auburn responded with big runs to win games . . . We cannot do that because we are not good on offense. 15 points in a half is ridiculous.
