Alvin Kamara...

My fantasy team, Butch's Backups, is going to win a title thanks to AK....

My 3rd round pick is another underutilized Butch Jones product, Travis Kelce
AK got me 60 points yesterday in fantasy. In our preseason draft, I couldn't believe he was still on the board at nine when I picked. I couldn't draft him quick enough.

He could've used Kamara more, but the bigger problem was his offense. Absent Dobbs, it would have been much more obvious. His strategy was to recruit undersized OL and to hand off 5 yards behind the los and have the back fight like crazy just to get back to the los. Even from the 1-yd line. Easily the worst coach for UT in my 50+ years of watching.

The biggest difference for Kamara in the Big Easy vs playing on the Hill is having a passing game that has to be respected.

Nobody ever worried about us going vertical when Kamara was here.

Similar threads like this pop up a couple times a year. As bad as Butch screwed up, the same could have been said about Saban not knowing what he was doing with him at Bama. People seem to forget that's where he started his college career before going juco and then coming here

Never thought I would see another player with the balance and vision of Barry Sanders. Alvin Kamara is damn close. He is a really special talent. The NFL has two future Hall of farmers with him and Derrick Henry. Fun to watch and cheer for on Sundays. Glad Kamara wound up at UT regardless of how he was used.

Nice to see Shy making some major bucks after his up/down career at UT. Perseverance paying off. Wish our current DLinemen would adopt his attitude.

Shy was really good at UT until that injury. I guess it just took him awhile to recover.

I'm just glad everything worked out for him.

Kamara at Tennessee was a travesty.

Any other decent coach would have won the east easily with the talent Butch had.

Read Karmara’s history at Alabama. You are wrong about Saban and Butch’s handling of Kamara. It’s a myth that Kamara was mishandled in college. Fake news.

I’m Sabans defense, AK was behind TJ Yeldon and Derrick Henry for a couple of years

And what came of that after Dobbs left? Let’s be honest here, we’ve made a few bad hires the last decade period. No use in comparing whose sh*t stinks less.

No doubt. Was Josh Dobbs the best QB you've ever seen? Not even close. But he had a remarkable instinct and ability to pick up the slack and cover up Butch jones incompetence

Love to see the success AK has earned and is experiencing.
Even though we think his talent and drive were wasted at UT, he probably arrived to the Pros in a little better shape than most of his colleagues. Less wear and tear getting there.

For crying out loud! Everyone recognizes AK is great. But it’s not like Hurd was practice squad (would’ve left as all time leader). Also, ever consider the fact that the reason AK is so good now is because he wasn’t ruined by too many carries in college (like quite a few rb’s are, look it up, there is an exact number of carries when skills begin to diminish).

Additionally, Alabama, quite frequently, has a thoroughbred in the stable ready to run when it’s his turn. Just because the guy scores on a disturbing number of touches (I think it was like 18% of touches 😬, feel free to correct), doesn’t mean he’ll maintain that same stat line once he’s getting the bulk of carries.

Say he was misused (more slot, more two back) but we weren’t hurting in the feature back dept.

I understand if you want to say “Jalen wanted to change positions, let him do that and let AK be the feature” or “AK could’ve won the heisman (debatable, but not guaranteed)”, but don’t act like we couldn’t run the damn football when he was here. We could and did. There were other areas where Butch screwed up, but this was the least of it.

AK had his CHRISTmas mojo going with his 1 bright red shoe and his 1 bright green shoe on.

1st play of the game was a handoff to AK for 11 yards and a 1st down and just a few plays later Brees handed the ball off to AK who took off and went 40 yards for a TD.

Later in the game AK had 5 TD's and during a timeout AK was 3 to 4 yards on the field and ready to run back on the field but he was kept on the sideline and Tayson Hill runs the ball 1 yard in for the TD instead of AK.

That should have been the 6th rushing TD for AK and would have tied the record and then his 6th TD would have been his 7th rushing TD and AK would have broken the record and might have never been broken.

In hindsight AK has reasons to be very happy but he also has a legit reason to be mad as hell that Taysom Hill was given that rushing TD when it should have been obvious that AK was easily within striking distance of breaking a very old record.

CONGRATS to VFL AK for a great record game!!!

Also was great so see Shy Tittle making some really good plays including knocking down a pass that would have obviously been a TD for the Vikings.

That was a fun game to watch for us VFL's that love seeing our guys doing well in the NFL.

VFL...GBO!!!

gotta wonder why kamara slipped to the 3rd round if he was viewed as such an immense talent in college.
