Alvin Kamara: Rookie of the Year?

Kamara is averaging 6.4 ypc, he’s on pace for approximately 75 receptions (48 already) and roughly 1450 yds. from scrimmage (906 thus far, in 10 games). He truly could post Marshall Faulk-like numbers if he ever gets the chance to become a feature back in the NFL, as opposed to a change-of-pace RB and third-down receiver.

He did have almost 1000 yards from scrimmage in 2016. Lets not act like he never saw the field, although yes, he should have been more involved.

Not saying he can't post those kind of numbers as a featured back but I think he's more dangerous as a change of pace/3rd down back.

He is most deserving so far imo. Cracks me up thinking of all the people that thought c-Mac was better

sadly, yes, he's having the type of year that puts him in the conversation.

just wish he was doing it for someone not in the NFC South.

If you look at the games where they both played, you see that Hurd, the much less dynamic and productive back who didn’t fit the system nearly as well, got about 70% of the touches between the two in 2015 & 2016.

I used to argue that the number should’ve been much closer to 50-50, even 60-40 would’ve been much better......but given the differences in the two backs, I think it’s easily justifiable to say that AK should’ve gotten the majority of the snaps rather than Hurd.

As for 2016 and AK getting nearly 1,000 yards from scrimmage....that clearly only happened due to Hurd’s absence. Once he got the chance to play, the production came in spades. The first 4 games of the year, when Hurd was still there, prior to the UGA game when everything went haywire, Alvin got 22 carries.....Hurd got 91. Surely you can see that was way out of kilter.

i've got a buddy that texts me every game "thank you jake and the tennessee volunteers for Alvin Kamara, NO Saints 2017 ROY candidate".

it's annoying. but i like the fact....he knows.

Last week when the game was on the line in the 4th quarter it was Alvin who was getting all the snaps. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down.

Sean Payton is using him and Mark Ingram like 1a/1b options. Ingram is in when they need to bleed the clock while Kamara is in when they need to make the comeback.
