Remember back in 2014 when Dave Hart thought this was a good idea?

UT quietly made the change on its website. All Tennessee women and men's sports teams, with the exception of one, will now go by the 'Volunteers'.

I guess it's cool, but I've noticed UT is getting more and more away from good old Orange and White, led by new coaches and the baby blue for women's sports. I don't mind a little black piping for football and basketball, and maybe a little accent baby blue for the women's stuff, but it looks like someone's moving us from the colors we grew up with and are our true colors--the Orange and White...just sayin'.

Queue the obligatory 'I don't care what they wear as long as they win...yada yada'

Which do you think would draw the more exuberant reaction? An alternate uniform or a stack of money?

Yep. That's the reason NIL is in charge now.

So you are saying stick with just orange and white and forget what the benefits the black, grey, or Summit blue give us in recruiting? Maybe you could pony up a few million to make up for the loss of that advantage.

When a recruit puts their offer announcement on social media, a huge % of them do so in the BLACK jersey.

Not sure the softball players are getting much NIL $$, and even if 1 or 2 are, the rest of them will not be.
There are three players on the current softball roster making six figures in NIL money. Most of the scholarship players have a deal for at least $20k.

Yeah and I've hated it for years.
Hating the blue is disrespectful toward Pat. Disrespecting Pat is an immediate turn in your VFL card or public tar and feathered with crimson colored feathers offense.

Your choice....

I'd guess approximately zero benefit. Just because they choose to be photographed in a black jersey means nothing in their recruitment. Check the number of signees for Alabama or Ohio State donning their black jerseys...probably not too many. They seem to be recruiting just fine.

Having said that, I like a good alt Uniform EVERY NOW AND THEN.
