Alontae Taylor entering the draft, skipping the bowl game

The league desperately needs corners.

Quick search found this, pretty funny.

“I’ve battled by an harm these previous two weeks, however I couldn’t let my teammates and coaches down by sitting out,” Taylor wrote. “I signed right here to ‘Give My All’ and that I did. This is by far the hardest resolution I’ve ever made. It is with a heavy coronary heart that I announce my resolution to forego the bowl game and to get wholesome.

Tennessee's Alontae Taylor declaring for NFL draft, not playing bowl game - ZellaNews

Could he be injured in the senior bowl?

Of course he could.. what's your point? That he should play in the bowl game to prove his loyalty?

He just explained that he's not healthy now, he wants to use the extra 6 weeks to get as healthy as possible so he can perform at his best.

The Senior bowl is 6 weeks after any bowl we would play in, that gives him more time to get healthy. Enough with the terrible take dude.
Not a terrible take. I’m not a fan of skipping bowl game at all. I think it’s chicken ****. And before you say “hey man, he’s got a lot of money on the line” give me a stat that supports sitting out a bowl game as risk mitigation.

Why is everyone having a hard time understanding I don’t necessarily blame the young man but I also can’t say he gave his all.

Both can be true.

Malik Herring was.
It's about risk/benefit for his career.

There's far more NFL attention on the Senior Bowl than whatever minor bowl Tennessee plays in.

Again, he's OUT of school when all bowls are played. He's technically no longer enrolled in ANY school very soon.

At that point, he's done with college and he's making his own choices. He's given his all and completed his journey at the University of Tennessee, like all the others leaving school. He's done.

It's his decision what bowl he plays in. He chooses the Senior Bowl and he's invited to play. It's Alontae Taylor's decision and responsibility for his life because he's no longer enrolled in the University of Tennessee.

It is a terrible take, he's played through injuries for 4 years now he's chicken ****? Crazy how quickly fans turn on players.

I dont need to give you a stat. He literally just told you he's not healthy, clearly he wants to use the extra 6 weeks of rest to get his body healthy.

That was a lot of typing to say “he chose to not give his all.”

But it was a good read and I really enjoyed it so thank you.

No problem with this. I appreciate how he's handled his entire career. Will be shocked if he gets drafted though, but playing in the bowl game, or senior bowl, won't fix that. He is high character which I wish the NFL cared more about.

This guy gave his all for Tennessee every time he stepped out there. He stuck with us through a couple of coaching changes and continued to get better ever season. Obviously, I’d have selfishly liked to have seen him suite up one more time. By the silver lining is there are a couple of talented kids behind him that now will get some valuable experience.

Yes. I questioned the fact that he “gave his all.”

Skipping a bowl game is not giving your all.

It’s giving your all until you don’t really have to and have the choice not to and then decline to….which is what he did.

Context of my post matters.

While I agree it is hypothetically in his best interest if he was hurt (which due to his position is low) the statement “gave his all” cannot be applied here since he is skipping a game that will forever be counted in the record books.
More than you ever gave....unless of course you want to count your always ignorant posts on a forum....

What I did with my professor is honestly none of your business and I am shocked you would ask.
I'll give you that's actually funny since I've been in academics.......

The bottom line is: All bowls are played after Alontae Taylor has completed his academic commitments to UT. He's done.

It's his choice, in a few days, what he does with his life and he's been kind enough to inform UT of his choices. He's not under a commitment to UT in just a few days....... so I appreciate his hard work and dedication while he was at the University.

I, personally, don't expect Alontae Taylor to do anything for the University of Tennessee after he's out of school. He's GIVEN HIS ALL as long as he was enrolled.

And you are a self professed troll....not a very good one, but most old farts aren't

Well done

Ah someone went into my post history.

Well done sir. Well done.

Either way, my statement is true.

Your statement is an opinion...not a fact. No matter how asinine it is you're entitled to it.

I’ve been in academics too….

But you make fair points. Being done and giving your all isn’t the same thing though.

Giving your all is doing the extra credit even when you have a 100.

If you've been in academics you should realize that the term ends. If someone was there, completed the course, and got their grade...... they are done.

If you approach a former student and invite them to participate in "post graduate" research and they decline, they've not let you down...... they've made a choice.

Alontae Taylor made his choices for his life after his commitment to UT was done. Let it go.

In academics……was a joke….

“In”

I promise you will get it eventually.

I also let this go a long time ago. I am just responding to uptight posters who can’t believe I debated the all part.

I tried to believe you weren't a troll.

My bad. You are.

Apologies to others who might read this.

My stance on the “give all” part is truly my stance.

The rest was honest boredom and hilarity that posters would actually be ok with players ditching a bowl game.

To be more specific, it is pathetic to think this is acceptable. If 15 other players felt this way and did the same it would probably cause a forfeit. This may be acceptable to you but it’s not.

So to be clear my stance is not trolling.
