All this negative crap

That's true and I am sure that they go over it in practice regularly. What I look at is the way they played....under manned and with inexperienced players against what is supposed to be the best defensive personnel in the country and could have won the game. I really thought they would get run over, but they didn't. They have played well under the circumstances. To say they aren't well coached because of the last play is pretty harsh and not correct, but that is something they will have to improve, and the way it happened was a very unusual circumstance. I don't ever remember seeing that happen before. I think we are on the way with the experience our young linemen and receivers are getting. If they can recruit well, and you gotta have the players no matter who the coach is, then next year or the next we should be able to compete with anybody.

The team wasn't prepared for the first play of the game, and they weren't prepared for the last play of the game. They probably overachieved between, but it didn't matter; plays Alpha and Omega beat them.

For what it is worth, my point was really not to attack Dooley. If anything, the guy has generated enough goodwill not to be skewered over such a fundamental error.

To this point I've been impressed with the gameplans overall, but Hamilton sold us on Dooley's attention to detail. The silly penalties have brought that into question. The fan and media reaction to this could have been much, much worse.

I have to agree. The penalty was almost completely the responsability of the staff. And the media has laid off Dooley if you look at how they go after Miles (albeit Miles has a few more screw-ups under his belt).

Thing is, the only reason they don't care is because UT is irrelevant at this point. But everyone in their right mind KNEW that coming into this season, including the fans. So we can CHOOSE to give the staff/team a little leeway this year. I choose to do so because I love my school and in light of the fact that they have shown some signs of life here and there. I feel that Dooley has shown that he isn't just a patsy for us to chew on for 3 years and then spit out.

Others choose not to give an inch of their expectations out of their own love of the team. They want the ship righted NOW. As long as that is the case, I won't argue. It hurts to see us down. But to those guys I say this: Trust me, the Tennessee Vols will be terrorizing the SEC again soon.

Or it could have been the 4th and 14 given up, the missed field goal or the phantom pass interference.... Saying it was only two plays that decided the game is idiotic.

I didn't say they were the only two plays that mattered; I said those two plays, the two that directly resulted in the only two touchdowns of the game regardless of pass interference calls or 4th and 1 or 14, beat us. If UT makes either play, they win.

I'm still not sure why people are so upset over criticism of coaches who just lost a game by having 13 men on the field.

No, there were other plays that the PLAYERS did not finish on that also lead to their defeat. It was not purely on the coaches. Also, can you honestly say that it was not a player's fault that their were 13 players on the field? Can you prove that a player misheard what coverage was called?

There is no way to absolve the coaches for losing a game UT was going to win because we could not get the right personnel on and off the field for the second week in a row.

Blame the players if it makes you feel better, but it is the job of the coaches to get them to do the right things.

I am not blaming anyone? I am not absolving anyone? You are the one doing both. All I am saying there was more to the game than the mayhem of the last play. All I am arguing is that its not very logically to compare the 10 men on the field during the UAB game to the 13 at the end of the LSU game. For those saying it was a problem that was not fixed from the UAB game, was there ever a down (not as insane as the last play) where there were numbers problems with personnel? I honestly feel like Dooley did what he said he was going to and fixed that problem. It was just very unfortunate that our very inexperienced team (including the coaches) had to deal with the chaos that is Les Miles' handling of the clock.

went back to rewatch some of the game on dvr and it made me sick seeing how hard we played the whole game..we play hard like that we beat Georgia....bad.

I am proud how this young team went down to LSU and played. A lot of people who don't know football keep bashing Dooley and Simms. You need to get behind both. Dooley took a very tough job. And he WANTED to be here and be coach of our Vols. They way the last two coaches left this program is a mess. Dooley will get this fixed and start winning. You will see. And the way some of you bash on Simms shows you don't know a thing about football. This kid starts his 6th game this Saturday. He has the youngest O-lines in the SEC. The kid takes a lot of hits and he does not complain. I am glad Dooley is our coach and i stand behind this team, and Dooley,Simms keep up the good work. Go Vols!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you on all of this. I am getting sick and tired of all the "so called" tennessee fans bashing these kids and coaches. After what we've been through in the last couple of years, it is good to see young coaches, and players come together and fight the way they have. Yes, there are going to be mistakes trust me I know, I was a former college Offensive lineman. It is tough as a freshman or even a sophmore offensive lineman to come in to a role with little to no game experience and dominate, especially when other teams know how young you are and mix up blitz packages. They are doing a pretty good job for the little experience they have. That segment of the game is better when you have a group of guys who have played together and can trust eachother. They will be really good next year. Sorry to ramble, and I too am upset by the games we have lost, but as true fans we need to look for the positives in our team. Ive seen a team that played Oregon tough for a a little over a half and played Florida tough for a half, and then almost beat one of the highest rated defenses in College this weekend. I am proud of those young kids and young coaches. We will be fine and we will be even better if we stand by our team.

Que the Real Fans issue again.....:fool:

Real fans got screwed by the sub last week negative or positive. None of us played or coached though to get us in contention to win so it's hard for me to rationalize the disdain towards either.
