Was that Tuberville recruited better than Fulmer did the last few years.

Everyone needs to realize that this is a re-building job. Year 3 of the Kiffin era will be a memorable one.

Many or our fans don't know the definition of "rebuilding". That's why so many said we would contend for the East this season. Hope they don't start saying that for 2010 now!

Also, the booing needs to stop. I'm as frustrated as the next person, but booing like our fans do when our coaching staff is bringing in top-notch recruits for official visits does not help things.

Agreed! Recruits don't need to hear that at all.

im not one to boo, but i can understand a vocal frustration when the issue is execution of a short simple screen or slant route. Not just on Crompton but the WR's have been terrible as well. Replace the WR's with Rogers, Teague, Nukeese and get these cocky young kids out because their play doesnt warrant cockiness. JMHO

If the issue was soley talent and the kids are trying their best then booing is just outright ridiculous to even think about...but that isnt the issue at all. Its execution of a simple play, being on the same page. So their effort in preparation is poor and shows a lack of care. Kiffin can say Crompton prepares more than anything but it doesnt show on the field. Personally, I would not boo the team but I can see why it is happening.

i saw a comparison of Auburn's recruiting classes of the last 4 years next to UT's, and auburn's wasn't exactly any better. You can bring in all the recruits you want, but Auburn was just as bad last year as you, and they're 5-0 this year and pretty easily beat you in your own stadium.

I like how Kiffin went for 2 though with 0 seconds on the clock just to make the final score "seem" closer. Urban Meyer had a 3 year plan too, and his includes two national championships.

I'd say Meyer had slightly more talent to work with. Zook didn't leave the the team devoid of talent. And you can't be stupid enough to compare recruiting classes from 4 years ago to determine who was more talented. It may be an indicator, but it isn't something set in stone. I don't think Fulmer was great at evaluating talent.

I agree. The booing is unbelievable and so extremely childish.

Really? The last four years have been a picnic huh? This year shouldn't even be considered a "rebuilding" year. This season is just one of survival. We are not grooming a bunch of young players for the future as would be the case in a true rebuilding year. You can't compete with the big boys in the SEC with no depth. That showed on defense last night. Next year will be closer to a rebuiling season with this year's freshmen stepping up and a new crop getting some playing time.
This talent depleted team will take some time to structure, and will, unfortunately, require patience.

I for one am pissed that JC actually played fairly well last night and that his recievers let him down. I saw dropped pass after dropped pass last night. I was glad to see the 2-minute hurry up offense start clicking though and that gives me some hope. To all of those taking their suicide leeps off the Kiffing band wagon good luck to ya and go route for someone else.

Umm, I would say Crompton was less than mediocre at best, which probably could be considered one of his better efforts.

Kiffin did not go for 2 on the last TD. The Vols did not even get to attempt the extra point.

While you were comparing Tennessee's recruiting classes to Auburn's did you consider all the players that are no longer with the team?

Meyer followed a guy known for recruiting just as Houston Nutt followed Ed Orgeron at Ole Miss. Florida had plenty of talent when Meyer arrived so it's obvious you don't know what you're talking about.

It is obvious the talent difference left by the prior staff and the injuries and transfers even made the gap wider. This is a frustrating season but we all really knew that it would be! Just thank CPF for not recruiting the last few years and we can only go up from here cause there really isnt anywhere lower left to go!

A ton of people on this board need to read this post of yours and understand the truth of it.

All the talk of Saban and what he did in year 1...
All the talk of Chizik and what he's done in year 1...

Nobody seems to be mentioning the reality that neither coach inherited a Crompton or a Stephens.

...or that Gene Chizik is a much better coach than Lane Kiffin. Auburn would love to have Eric Berry, McCoy, Hardesty, etc.

also that Malzahn is a much better O.C. than Kiffin.

Chizik 5-0 at Auburn. Great hire Auburn.

Kiffin 5-17 in NFL
2-3 in college Not so good hire Tennessee
