All things STOCKS

On my 3rd rum and I can’t understand exactly what you mean? 😂

Just a general comment that most of the new money came into the market in late May (near the peaks) than mid March (near the lows)

How'd ya do last week? Look like SAVE recovered

I ended +8% on the week. Sold Rmed on the spike yesterday. Save still has me down on my new position, but only by like $900. That was some ride lol. +$3500 to -$6000 to -$900 all in 24 hours.

In individual accounts (excluding the shorts), up 1.59% for week. Mostly related to FIVE and buying on Thurdsay.

Dont wanna discuss IRA and 401k (Ha ha).

I did well on the shorts. Made up for 401k and IRA.

I wont complain. Broader market was down and ended the week better than I started.

For curiosity purposes

So, how many individual stock holdings does everyone have?

Less than 5
Between 5-10
Between 11-25
More than 25

What's your preferred range?

I typically hold 2 or 3 at a time. If I have any more than that, I can't focus and I miss the spikes. In theory, you could really just focus on one single stock and trade that over and over in a day for 1-2% gains at a time if it were volatile enough.

Also, TIFWIW, I had dinner tonight with an American Airlines pilot of 20+ years. He says there are rumblings throughout the company that Warren B may buy the company. Now wouldn't that be some ****....

He also said the issues with the Max are resolved, but because of perception, AAL isn't going to touch them and unload them all to Southwest.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Interesting on the airlines thing. So a little of topic but out of curiosity did he say anything about furloughs continuing or flights coming back?

He said American made the guys sign 1 year contracts that they wouldn’t fly for anyone else. And yes, he said it’s picking up quite a bit, regarding the # of flights he’s doing now compared to April.

Question. If I see a stock with almost 3,000,000 short shares and .8 days for them to cover those shares would that mean they have to buy them back tomorrow with the .8 to cover?

I am not sure if this is even relevant since the price is so ridiculous. Alot of chatter on reddit and in my FB group about a OZSC or Ozop Surgery? What is thoughts on this?

I like the future of this stock and have owned some shares for over a month now. Even added to my position last week. The merger seems certain by the end of the month with Pcti

I think that is a ratio of shares shorted to the average number of shares traded daily. So 3,000,000+ shares must be the daily trading average since it's less than a day (0.8). One of the guys in here with financial industry licenses can correct me if I'm wrong.

How do you purchase this? I typed it into robinhood and nothing came out. I also tried my vanguqrd acct and it said no!

No financial industry licenses but that's correct. Daily trading avg would be 3.75MM (.8=(3MM shares shorted/3.75MM avg daily volume))

Another way to say it, it's the number of days it would take the short sellers to settle all their shares based on avg. volume.

I would think that the shares shorted as a percentage of total shares floated would be a better ratio to look at. Those shorted shares are actually borrowed and if there aren't many shares available in the open market to buy when the stock price starts rising significantly and the "shorts" rush to cover, the higher that # of shares shorted relative to the # of shares in the float, the harder it will be to cover. Short squeeze. Basic law of supply and demand. Once margin calls start getting issued to the shorts the carnage gets even more intense.

Why You Need to Know How to Calculate a Company's Float

I'm not sure how the # of shares shorted divided by the average number of shares traded daily would be used in an analysis. Maybe it's a good way to compare similar companies with a lot of short interest. I guess that a lightly traded security is more likely to rise or fall quickly when the current day activity greatly exceeds the daily average. But again, I would think the shares shorted relative to the float tells much more.

Chime in technical analysis guys.
