CDD knows his job is on the line and that fan frustration is at an all time high. He also knows that everyone expects there to be another mark in the "L" column come Saturday night. That being said, IMO he should channel his inner Les Miles and pull out all the stops for this one.

He has absolutely nothing to lose. If we try to play them "straight-up", we're going to get blown out regardless, so why not be really aggressive and throw everything but the kitchen sink at the bammers?

If I was game planning, this is what I'd be drawing up:

  • - Flea Flickers
  • - Hook & Ladders
  • - A Fake punt or 2
  • - Fake FGs
  • - Onside kick or 2
  • - Go for it on every 4th down that is across midfield
  • - Run the option with Pig and CP for an ENTIRE series - multiple drives
  • (If that doesn't work, try the option with Justin King using CP as the pitch option)
  • - Direct snap to CP frequently and just see what he can do with it
  • - Multiple end arounds and reverses to CP and Hunter
  • - Crowd the box and play tight coverage on the outside - force McCarron to beat us with his arm. If he slings it around, so be it - I just don't want to see their RBs rack up yardage like UGA did
  • - Stick with the 4-3 Base and don't go away from it

GBO

Disclaimer: I realize some of the things on the list seem downright dumb. I get that - but I'm just trying to make a point that I think they should be thinking WAY outside the box to get momentum in our corner and get them on their heels. Any fancy wrinkle or formation that could confuse or surprise them should be used.

I sincerely hope that the Vols find a way to win on Saturday evening. I don't think trickery will be key to a win. UT is going to have to outwork those evil 'Bama boys. They are too slow mentally to fall for finesse and tricks.

Which year was it that Tennessee beat Florida with John Chavis's roving defensive linemen defense? That was a fun surprise!

Maybe we can try and run the Wing - T, with multiple fronts and formations. Worked well for me.

Should go a step further. Onside kick every time, like the Jeff Fisher did against Peyton and the Colts in 2004.
And figure with how bad our Defense has played and how well Bama's offense is extend 4th down territory to the entire field.

you'd think he would have brought "all the stops" against Florida, Georgia, and State....a win Saturday means nothing for his job security..in fact, I think it hurts it even more to some degree since many would ask "Where the f was that the past 3 years".

Have CP run the veer for the entire game. Bama will never see it coming. Worked for Kentucky...

Stack the box and make McCarrons beat you.. That's the formula.. No one has been able to do it yet..

This. Any team that can figure out how to do that can beat Bama. Problem is, actually doing it. This is the formula however.

Yeah, trick plays aren't the key to beating Saban, at least not for this team. Going for it on 4th down alot and trying fake punts is a good way to get really embarassed by a well coached team. Makes more sense to play hard nosed, disciplined, mistake-free football and hope some breaks go your way.

If we could play sound football for 4 quarters we would be undefeated coming into this game
This is the main problem i have with Dooley.. First year he got a pass... Mid way through last year it should have been corrected.. There isn't a excuse for it this year..

Against Saban, you've got to do the unexpected to have a chance. Les Miles gets it...

We're Tennessee. Breaks never EVER go our way.
