unwarranted. All he did was stay loyal to HIS team. I hated it at the time for our program, but honestly...if you were a HC at another university in another conference and the UT job opened up and you were considered a candidate, would you not go after it???

That would be your ultimate dream. That is all that he did. Anyone who hates him is a complete hypocrite IMHO. All of you would have done exactly the same hating in his shoes and if you didn't I would have to question your loyalty as a Vol. If anyone should be blamed in all of this, it should be Carroll for jumping ship like he did when he knew the shi^ was going to hit the fan. Kiffin really is getting a bad rep.

If I was a HC at another school...my true loyalties would still go to UT any day. It's about chasing your dream. Kiffin just has been incredibly lucky in landing his dream job so early. With all that being said, things are as they should be. Kiffin has his dream job and we have the right staff and Hc in place to be in the NC hunt year after year. Overall, I am happy with how things went and really like Dooley. But at the same time, it's silly to hate or even dislike Kiffin. Anyone who gets under Meyer's skin is okay in my book.

I think most people are over the fact that he left, and some are even glad.

I still have a problem with the way he exited though...

I'm glad he's gone, seriously, my dad celebrated.

The problem I have is the way he left in that he was disrespectful to the fans and the players

And most importantly him trying to take OUR recruits with him, tell them to stay home and not go to classes.

Oooohhh, I'd never thought about it that way. NOW I see why I shouldn't hate or dislike Kiffin. I've never seen those points brought up before. Thanks for enlightening us with this brand new perspective.

I don't hate him at all; in fact, I feel a little sorry for him for making a huge mistake. He would have had a minimum of three years here to get things fixed before fans even began to complain. Had he rebuilt this program to a championship level, his coaching acumen would have been undisputed. He would have reached the elite level, and could have written his own ticket in college or the NFL. At SC, 7-5 is not going to get it, probation or no. Fans there are already *****ing. He's going to have to get it done if he wants to make it, and sooner rather than later.

I don't think it was that he left...

but how he left.

Yeah it was a blessing in disguise, especially with the NCAA coming down on our program. Dooley is a better fit than some young punk who has yet to win anything. We all used to worry when Kiffin opened his mouth and with DD we still can laugh without the secondary violations.

Now that Pat Hayden is the AD there you really think Kiffin will be there much longer? It's called KARMA

I blame Jim Mora jr. If he had been a better coach he'd still be coaching the Seahags, Pete the cheat would still be in LA and we'd be enjoying preparations to go to the Music City Bowl thanks to Kiffin's amazing leadership in compiling an improbable 6-6 record right now.... Wait....What??!?

I love how you conveniently left out the parts about him and Ogre trying to take our early recruits with them.

Lane is where he needs to be. We'll wave when his sinking ship passes us on the way down. We have the coach we need, and we're heading in the right direction faster than we were a year ago.

Chrunch - shouldn't you be off focusing on your Scroggins visions? Why are you wasting your time with posts on the main board when you could be regaling us with vision predictions from your hot tent?

Just saying...I think he is really misunderstood. I saw no one here complaining at the time when he opened his mouth so many times about our rivals. Was pretty damn funny at the time. If anyone is not doing a good job coaching right now, it's Monte with that USC defense...not Lane. You all saw what he did with our anemic offense and Crompton. Also, the play calling was pretty good...out coached Saban head to head if you don't recall...kept Saban guessing the entire game. I know Crompton is thankful for him. Still mind boggling that he made it to the NFL.

One poster made a good point...if he was really smart career wise, would have stayed and resurrected UT and earned a good reputation. But either way, he did what I would have done. Though a plane in the middle of the night wasn't the right way to do it...agree on that.
