For everyone that thought Note Dame would be in his sights, UF has just secured coach UM for another 6 years. "I will never go to Notre Dame. Ever.""I will be the coach at UF for a long time. As long as they will have me." A 6 year $24million contract backs that up.

What does the buyout clause say? Is there even a buyout clause?

Pete Carroll makes $6MM per year. You don't think ND would pony that up for a proven winner like Meyer?

Meyer has proven to fans in Provo and Bowling Green that his promises are empty, I don't see how they have gained any more worth, especially with the prospect of an additional $2MM per year in the offing.

The Irish can certainly dish out a LOT more money than UF can ever imagine for the coach they want...Money is not an issue at Notre Dame.

Good points. You could throw Saban and others in that bag as well. I just don't buy into the UM/Notre Dame love affair. I think that passed when he went to UF. I don't see anything he would have to gain by making that move. Money would obviously be no object. IF it ever does happen, I see it happening when he feels he has nothing left to accomplish at UF. He hasn't made dynasty ranking there yet.

I believe he still had 4 yrs left on his current contract...this doesn't mean anything really.

I don't care for him but I think he earned his raise.

...he should never say never though cuz if he changes his mind and goes to ND, everyone would call him a liar like Saban when he said he would never be the coach at Bama...:whistling:

The buyout is only $500,000??? :eek:hmy: Are you serious? That's pocket change for Notre Dame. When Weis gets fired in a year or two, ND will be heading to Gainesville to pick up Mr. Meyer!!!!

He had a 4 year contract. This equates to a 2 year extension. What is the ND buy-out? I heard there was none. How does this lock him up?

You might remember we gave Fulmer an extension in 2007. Guess he is here to stay.

I distinctly remember another SEC coach leaving less than a year after a 7 year deal was inked... what was his name again, Phil...?

What happens when the NFL comes calling?

Everybody except UF fans already call him a liar

Honestly, when it comes down to it, contracts don't really mean a whole lot when it comes to a coach leaving on his own will. If he wants to leave, he will leave. If he wants to stay, he gets paid big bucks. A coach really has a school where they want them in most cases.
