Just go away for now, Give the man 2 years and see what is going on. I don't think there is any coach in the country that could of come in here with all of the mess going on and still win...Everyone knew this would be a bad year, when a team is suppose to have 85 scho;arship players but UT only has 72 and then lose a few more during spring practice what does everyone expect. I can't say I like or don't like what is going on the recruiting area but all I can say is wait and give the coaching staff time. This kind of thread has been put out there so many times but people still want to say get rid of CDD, but why cause he is trying to clean up a mess that 2 other coaches put UT in. IF you think the recruiting class sucks now just imagin if we fired our coach after this year. we would be a laughing stock of the FBS for years to come. IMO

People are sympathetic to the talent Dooley has to work with. However, his game management leaves a lot to be desired thus far.

1. The loss of D Moore hurt badly, especially in the red zone. With his loss, Poole should have gotten 25 carries. I can't believe how quickly the Vols turned away from the hot hand.
2. The 52 yard field goal attempt was more than questionable. I was fully expecting a pooch punt out of the field goal formation.
3. Getting 11 men on the field is as basic as blocking and tackling.

We've beat UTM, and UAB only because there FG kicker missed 5 field goals, we're well on our way to being a laughing stock

That whole sequence was perplexing. The 3rd down play call seemed to indicate we were playing it like 4 down territory and just trying to create a manageable down and distance to go for it on 4th . . . then the FG team ran onto the field.

I believe we are the laughing stock of the NCAA. Especially when you throw our basketball program out there.

Wasted series to say the least.

That looked so amateurish. Like we were trying to get in position to give a kicker an easy FG from 52 yds that didn't even make the end zone.

I agree the coaching just like the players are learning, I believe I heard yeaterday that there was atleast 7 freshman playing at the same time on the offense, so what does everyone expect. amateurish is a good word to use and we can just hope it improves next year.

We haven't had a game since UAB that player participation hasn't been an issue.

I don't dislike Dooley, but this recurring issue makes it look like he is way over his head on gameday.

Agreed, give Dooley more time, find a qualified Ad from a nationally prominent program, either curently there or retired, offer him a lot of money to come here, and fire Mike Hamilton as fast as we can. Wait until next year to start seeing what kind of interest some of the proven coaches in the country have in the UT experience and raise the necessary money to hire him in 2012 before the recruiting wars get heated up.

I have tried to give Dooley the benefit of the doubt, but that particular situation made him look like he had absolutely no clue what the hell he is doing.

I thought the same thing about the third down call.

As for Dooley, everyone is looking for ways to evaluate him but it's difficult to separate the coaching from the inexperience and lack of depth.

It's difficult, but coaching shines through. Most of what we see us actually positive. Some us shockingly missing.

I think that evaluation can fairly be made beginning November 6. If this team does not look significantly better against the other scrubs of the conference then I'm ready to go ahead and say that this is not the guy to rebuild the Vols. Nobody's getting fired this year but this product is not going to cut it two years in a row no matter how bad, young, undeveloped, inexperienced or thin the talent is. Dooley is going to have to earn the right to show us what he can do in 2012 and the audition starts with Memphis. At least that's how I'm looking at it.

So what is an acceptable record in Nov? I say anything less than 4-0 is a failure.

A win against Ole Miss and UK? 2-2 is very probable, and I still wouldn't consider it a failure....this year. If we go 4-0 in November, I will be thrilled.

You're right. This team will be remembered by how they perform in November. Can they will the games they are supposed to win? And, at this point, which games are they 'supposed' to win?

If they lose to Memphis on the road the wheels come off the bus.

edit: after much thought the wheels are off, i meant the rims

I have an idea. FIRE HIM! Then when the next coach shows up fire his ass before he even gets a chance to coach. That'll show the rest of the NCAA we will not tolerate any losses.
