All signs pointing to a former head coach as offensive coordinator?

We’re not getting closer. Journalists are throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks.
We are getting closer to the day we hire an OC. Doesn’t mean an announcement is coming soon. Only that we are closer than we were yesterday.

I really don’t want a coach that has done nothing without Kiffin. At USC Kiffin was the real reason for the success of those offenses. He has done been nothing but mediocre at his very best when he’s all on his own

He was more than fine without Kiffin in 07 and 08.

I don’t want Sarkesian 😖 he looked good at Bama but a big part of that was because he was overloaded with talent. He has done terrible in Atlanta and he did pretty terrible at USC. Would have rather had Freeze imo.
So he doesn’t have an overload of talent coaching a NFL team is what you’re saying?

None of the candidates that have been contemplated have a 100% approval rate, so I’ll wait and see the results AFTER the season with whoever the hell we get, to grade the hire. If he does a good job the best you could hope for is 97% with whoever likes VolunteerHillbilly’s posts comprising the dissent. 😉

I think Sark would be a good choice... has the experience we need.
What is bothering me is the role Chris Weinke is serving... running backs coach. The man needs to shift over to QBs and get that position under control... just look at his resume... this has to be fixed!
Yeah I’m feel the same, why is a qb coaching running backs and not qb, doesn’t make sense

Sark would be the best hire for what Pruitt needs.
And he checks a whole bunch of boxes for what Pruitt wants & needs

1. Proven elite level recruiter
2. Proven HC (can be trusted to run that side of ball)
3. Qb coach by trade
4. SEC landscape understanding

Anyone still complaining about his alcohol problem from 4 years ago, after no issues sense then is a CHILD so grow up. People make mistakes and learn from them.

I really don’t care at this point but Steve was the OC at USC and then the HBC at UW and USC with more success with Kiffy at UT.

Kiffy gave UA’s the edge at UoA before he was dismissed and Steve got a bad rap for the loss in UA’s loss in the national championship as an OC. Both are fantastic offensive minds.

But stating that Steve’s has been mediocre, is a little disingenuous. Kiffy would have fallen flat on his face last year without Kendall.

Didn’t need to raise your voice, Butchna, lol. None of the candidates or names thrown out there will ever have a 100% approval rating on fan base. Seriously though, folks on here are bored with no news, they are all 100% guessing and hoping they fall on the right side of being, well right. Then VolunteerHillbilly and like can be their champion.

When he was HC at Washington he pretty much owned Kiffin at SC.

What about Larry Fedora??? Know that he’s spread Vs. Pro style that Pruitt says that he wants to run, but Fedora can coach if he has talent...

Another caveat... “if he has talent”. Just so happens, that piece is glaringly missing on Rocky Top.

Fact is, if he’s successful it won’t matter who the hire is. Mike Debord is a prime example of that.

8th in NFL offensive production....8th!!!! is terrible? without freeman....Gimme a Break....This rebuild is going to take the time.....CJP will have the Defense Ready and Sark will get production out of the offense....Geez...

Sark would be a great football hire...BUT let’s not forget that he couldn’t keep his dream job at USC because of his drinking problem. That’s a tough sell to mothers who is sending her son to UT! There is a reason he didn’t stay at Alabama and I doubt it was the Atlanta job.
Some of ya'll act like he is the HC and the only one recruiting
