How does LaMarcus Coker make 2nd Team all SEC TB when as of right now, he isnt the projected starter?

Ill hang up and listen for your answer.

It was voted on by sportswriters. That's pretty much all you need to know.

It's probably also a comment on the state of the RB position in the SEC. There just aren't that many proven feature RB's out there.

Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, Kregg Lumpkin, Thomas Brown, Cory Boyd, and Rafael Little? Seems like there is a few that one could see being ahead of Coker. I would vote Coker over Thomas Brown though.

without him even being named starter I would vote him over Brown and Lumpkin.

My guess is that it is either based on their belief of his potential or they think that he isn't durable enough to be an every down back but that he will be a playmaker whenever he touches the ball.

why is Lumpkin going to have a monster year?
dont they have a young offensive line..
and their going to throw it alot more with the surrgence of Stafford and the improved WR's..

Never let facts get in the way of making an authoritative sounding (yet baseless) assertion.

Their OL is really young.

When Georgia ended the 2006 season, the Bulldogs had just six scholarship offensive linemen. Richt and his staff brought in six new linemen in January and this fall, the Bulldogs will be very young up front.

"Right now if we started, at left tackle, it would be a true freshman in Trinton Sturdivant. If we started right now, it would be a redshirt freshman at left guard (Chris Davis). We have a senior center in Fernando Velasco who has been a guard most of his career."

"A junior college transfer, Scott Haverkamp has never taken a snap at Georgia and he will be our right guard. Chester Adams is a true guard who will play right tackle."

It seems like highly touted running backs disappear at UGA. Why is that? I thought Danny Ware would do some damage and he never seemed to do anything. Not to mention all the other ones that have been through there in recent years.

I still remember Kirk Herbstreit praising this guy before his freshman season. He said he was going to be the first 1000 yard back at Georgia in however many years. Why did he go to the NFL draft?

He probably figured out that the Richt/Bowden offense does absolutely nothing for star RB's. Off the top of my head, Warrick Dunn is the only one I can think of that has really done much at the next level.

Richt sure seems to get his share of highly touted backs even though they do not go on to succeed in the NFL. Makes no sense why they would go there.

Here's a scary (if you care about preseason voting) thought: NO linemen made either first or second teams on either side of the ball.
