All of this injury talk

Seriously so sick of it. We're being a bunch of hand-wringing sissies, thank goodness we aren't the ones taking the field Saturday. Those guys in orange going out to beat Bama on Saturday are some damn warriors. Focus on the positives, not what we can't control. Defeatist attitudes have got to go. That's not what we as Volunteers represent. Get it together people, this is ridiculous. We're 5-1, beat both our SEC east rivals, it's Bama week and we're b*tchin about how the injuries are just insurmountable. Next man up and move on.

so i'm a bad fan for saying missing Maybin, Sutton, Dkjr, O'brien, might, in fact have an impact on our ability to win the game.

ok. some people have a hard time separating fiction from from reality. smh.

there's been more b*tchin about 'bad' fans this year than anything else. talk about ridiculous. and i don't know about you, but even in my criticisms about the very real issues this team has, i've thoroughly enjoyed this season. yes, you can actually do both...:eek:hmy:

some of y'all just need to get the chip off your shoulder, and learn to deal with reality.

this just in....there's a better than average chance that we'll lose tomorrow, and *shocker* having 4 starters, 2 captains, out on defense may make winning it just a tad more difficult.

and i'll still be a fan on Sunday, happy about the season we're having.

So this is what we're looking at for Saturday more than likely. They can make this work. LB group going to shut up all the doubters!

WR: Malone/Jennings/Byrd
TE: Wolf/Croom
O line: Kendrick/Boulware/Thomas/Jones/Hall
QB: Dobbs
RB: Kamara/Hurd/Kelly

Dline 1: Barnett/Kmac/Vickers/Vereen
Dline 2: Kongbo (Mixon)/Johnson/Tuttle/Lewis (Phillips)

MLB: Jumper/Bryant/Bituli (maybe DKjr)
WLB: Elliott/ please don't get hurt (maybe Mcdowell)

LCB: Moseley/Buchanan
SS: Kelly Jr/Griffin/Berry
FS: Abernathy/Warrior
RCB: Foreman/Martin
N-B: Gaulden/Foreman

Why did you say "Elliott/please don't get hurt"?? Doesn't matter does it?

I'm in complete touch with reality, but what's done is done. Whoever can't play Saturday won't play. But several people on this forum (not saying you) have the attitude of "oh well, too many injuries. At least we have an excuse when we lose". That's true and everyone knows it. Are the chances of us winning significantly worse without our captains and starters? Sure. I'm not an idiot. But when, in this whole season, has this team not given you a reason to believe that they can and should win?

I know that I started this with a rant, but (gonna have to do this to make a point) when you compete for this school, you come away with a lifetime's worth of pride for UT no matter what the situation is. You don't walk into a fight with one of your biggest rivals with the attitude "eh, might not win this one". Now I'm not saying you had to have competed for UT to be extremely proud of them, that's not my point, just trying to explain where I'm coming from.

I'll end it on a quote from Inky Johnson "Tennnesee doesn't take the back seat to nobody". That whole speech he is talking about what this team is epitomizing, never quitting and understanding that we are one of the best programs in the country. The past 8 years or so we sort of lost that attitude. But we are back! Let's get behind our team, like I said earlier focus on the good thing and advantages we have in this game and stop talking about how I wish we had this person or this person healthy. Snap and clear, let's move on.

nothing. i'm proud of them for it. i agree with you and Inky on all that "stuff".

how i feel about this game has less to do with us, as much as it does to do with a) the opponent being really, really good, and a lot healthier than us and b) that we are really undermanned on defense.

i don't have any doubt that whoever plays will play hard and "give their all for Tennessee". and i think offensively we'll score and cause them some problems.

that's not what this is about though. if all you want to discuss is the "candy and nuts" part of Tennessee football, great....i'll probably agree with you on all that stuff.

i'm just really sick of this "i'm a better fan because i just believe...next man up, GBO!" like our current situation injury wise just shouldn't, or doesn't, matter (i know you addressed this, but this type of thread just brings that out, and damn anyone that think otherwise.)

this picture some of you paint, while very pretty, is just a collection of memories. you can have all the heart and want to, and slap all the signs, shake all the shakers you want. reminisce about all the times we came up big in similar situations etc....

i love all that stuff. really, i do. i sing rocky top to my girls every night at bed time, woot and all.

but i have this nasty habit of separating those narratives, to what is actually in front of us.

and if by chance we get to add another story that we can reminisce about years from now, tomorrow, GREAT. i'm for it. i'll be right there with you telling it.

Generally though, just stop telling me (or anyone else) that we're bad fans because we have the gaul to to look at this game for what it is, consider the opponent, injuries etc...and say "yeah, it's likely we lose".

doesn't mean we don't want to win, or that we'll be happy if we lose. doesn't mean that i don't think there's a chance we could win. but i wouldn't bet on it. and it doesn't mean we should fire the staff, kick guys off the team or anything else. it probably means we just got beat by a better football team. and we still have all our season goals in front of us.

That's fair, and like I said I understand all of the things we have going against us. I didn't mean for anyone to think I was saying they were a bad fan, but just in general the past week seems like all I've heard is negativity. Call my OP a moment of frustration. Also, not everyone on this forum is as reasonable as you, so thank you for not being an a** :good!:

thanks, and no problem. i've not been shy to criticize. and as someone that get labeled a negavol quite often, i do think there's a distinction to be made that not everyone that criticizes, or predicts a loss, is a part of the "fahr butch" and player bashing crowd.

Ole Miss proved Bama is beatable- I think the Vols win, despite some back ups playing

First off, hate everything about Tenn period. You need to do something about that American cheese color first. Go Gators!!

That said, you guys have an excellent team this year, clearly better than us. The numerous injuries might end what could have been an excellent season. Clearly a playoff team. Most folks know this already. So just a true Gator here tippin the cap and telling the truth. It would have been interesting to see you guys at full strength against OSU or the like. With that said, roll tide!!

What the hell kind of cheese are you eatin' bruh?

Posters talking about injuries on a message board does not equate to the team or fans having a defeatist attitude today.

Meant as a "snap out of it" thread. Let's talk about who's going to play, what they can do and how they'll match up. How does it look to any parent or recruit that makes their way into this forum and they see us dogging any back ups that will have to play? It looks bad.

So who do we have? What have they done? What are their strengths? Let's go y'all, keep those feet moving.

Doesn't really matter what we talk about. None of that is going to change how the team performs. It's almost as if you feel like our forum demenor affects the performance of the team.
