They post on FB or make statements in conversation. “Look at that defense! Aren’t y’all excited for Pruitt now??!!”

My response has always been, “Bama D is like Pruitt putting lipstick on Gigi Hadid. Sure he may have some small part in that success, but god**** if it doesn’t help to have the absolute cream of the crop of 5* players to work with.”

I really don’t think Bama defense is a 100% reflection on Pruitt at all. Maybe Pruitt factors into it perhaps 40%.

Hmm, somebody should let him know then that he should make sure to hire a staff that can recruit cream of the crop 5* players.......oh wait, that is exactly what he has done.

Pruitt is probably a pretty good defensive coach. I get that he's always been at schools that pretty much always recruit well and play good defense, but you don't get "allowed" on those staffs if you're some idiot. FSU's defense was good before he got there, but they were even better when he was DC and won a national title. Georgia's defense was good before he got there but he made them better while he was there. As far as the recruiting, he's had a hand in assembling these recruiting classes.

IMO, Pruitt's success or failure at Tennessee will largely be driven by the quality of the offensive staff he's able to put together. It's a bit of a risky hire, but I do think he has a pretty high ceiling.

Look at the difference in the type of recruits he is targeting as compared to the prior staff. He will bring in better players than we had previously and will develop and coach better than the prior staff. That's worth it right there. No one is saying he is better than Saban and Smart - at this point no one knows for sure. But so far all signs are pointing to the potential to be a successful SEC HC.

What on God's green earth is there to be happy about? Are some of those players coming with him?

He has improved the already good defenses when he has taken over.

He is recruiting the same type of talent those teams have.

We should be excited.

Dude give it a rest.

We already lead or are in the hunt for several 5* players.

He is bringing them.

You just choose to ignore it to have something to b*** about.
If everybody agreed on everything the interwebs would be booooorrrrrrring. You don't like what I am bringing, feel free to ignore it.

And those 5*s ain't here yet.

He had lots of talent there, too. Let's see how he does with this train wreck. THEN we'll talk.

That's true.

And when we revisit this again, you'll see he was right.

We're a train wreck, but there is talent there. Good veteran talent.

Fair observation...but just remember that Pruitt, I believe, got many of those 5* players to Bama, if I'm not mistaken.

The bars pretty low right now in K-Town. If he beats Vandy, Kentucky, & SCAR, we would be dancing in the streets. Pick off a still bad Florida and its statue time. CJP doesn't have to be the second coming of the General to be a superstar in BOC.

Let's hope Helton is the real deal. Do you guys think USC missed him in their bowl game prep.

Probably, it's ironic how poorly they did.
Like Kiffin when he left Bama
Or off top of my head, Heupel at Missouri

Not in ALL cases, but when a coach leaves early, it typically hurts the team and kids...that's why Pruitt stayed to honor his commitment, and finish what he started.

Is that why Saban praise Pruitt for his game plan for Clemson, because its only part a reflection of him when he designs the plan to stop a top 20 offense and number 1 ranked reigning national championship team?

no one should confuse that Bama defense with ours, no matter who's coaching it.

what should get your attention are the players he recruited to both GA and Bama that play on those defenses.

give the man a little time. get some more players in here, and i think...i think....we might all be happier for it.
