All I ask do not blame kicker

That's absurd. It was incredibly loud for the entire game. Were you there?
It’s been MUCH louder. Heat and sun zapped some of the crowd. A night game would have been ideal. Crowd didn't impact game at all. Not one false start penalty on GA—only one on UT. It was loud but not Neyland at night loud.

I agree this will be the best lesson for this young man. He’s only a sophomore so he will have many chances to keep getting tested and will become better for it for sure. I’ve never been in his shoes for sure and I can only imagine I’d be a mess of nerves with a stadium full of people too.
Coaches are supposed to know if players can cut it when the pressure is on. You simulate the pressure in practice. How many game winners did Jeff Hall miss? I can't remember any.

Holly Rowe even reported he was taking deep breaths on the sideline and the coaches were talking to him. Kid was petrified. Over his head. Heuple had better learn the value of a clutch kicker. Tennessee has won a ton of games in the kicking game.

I agree with you, but man how do you simulate that crowd and the intensity of that moment other than just going through it? He seems like a sharp young man and I’ll bet we see a different kicker emerge from this.

You absolutely CAN NOT simulate in practice the immense pressure of a game winning kick against a top 5 program in front of 102K and a TV audience of millions.

Athletes are taught to take deep slow breaths in order to focus. Not unusual at all.

What? He is the one that missed the kick. He choked
Look at how many XPs and FGs are missed every season. For a kick to be good, a lot of moving parts have to perfectly align. I thought he would make it and I was disappointed that he missed. However, I'm not going to worry about it. Stuff happens.
